2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 1987 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGUIATING THE OPERATION OF TAXICABS,
3 AMBUIANCES TOWING VEHICLES AND CHARTERED OR SIGHTSEEING VEHICLES";
REQUIRING PERMITS FOR TRANSPORTATION BY AMBUIANCES FROM WITHIN TO A
4 DESTINATION WITHOUT THE CITY; MAKING CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS TO PERMIT
REQUIREMENTS FOR AMBUIANCES; AND PROVIDING FOR NOTICE TO APPLICANTS
5 AND PERMITTEES OF AMENDMENTS TO SAID ORDINANCE.
8 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION ONE: Ordinance No. 1987 Section Two Subsection (a)
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION TWO: (a) A vehicle or ambulance which is lawfully

transporting a passenger or a patient or towing a vehicle from a

i point outside the City to a destination within the City, or en
12
: route to a destination outside the City, provided that no such
13 :
i vehicle shall solicit, or accept a passenger or patient or tow a
14
vehicle from within the City for transportation to any destination

whatsoever without such permit.

(1) The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any
private ambulance soliciting or accepting a patient within the City
when such private ambulance has been requested or summoned by any

I police, fire, or civil defense authority or has been informed by

I the person requesting such transportation that no permittee here-

I under is willing or able to render such transportation and the
22
police department of the City is then notified that such transpor-
23
tation will be made; provided that the Bureau may revoke the permit
24
of each permittee refusing such service unless the following
25
conditions exist:

i. The permittee has notified the Bureau in writing
of the time and date of each such refusal and the reasons therefor
28
on or before the tenth'day of the following month; and

ii. The Bureau finds that the permittee refusing
service was not able by reason of unavailability of equipment and
31
personnel to render such service. In making this finding, the

1 Bureau may require the permittee to furnish any further information
2 reasonably necessary for such determination."

SECTIqN TWOg Ordinance No. 1987 Section Four is hereby
amended by adding thereto Subsection (c) to read as follows:
"SECTION FOUR: (c) Notice of current amendments to this
ordinance and of scheduled hearings under this Section shall be
given to applicants for permits or certificates and to firms and
persons to whom operating permits and certificates have been
issued, provided that failure to give such notice shall not in-
validate any decision made, or permit or certificate issued,
pursuant to this ordinance."
