HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994ORDINANCE 1994 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES :PH THE CURRENT YEAR UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMEIf'l'S OF SAID CITY, AND TO PAY THE BONDED AND OTHER INBEBTEDNESS THEREOF. THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION ONE: That there is hereby levied for the present fiscal year, beginning July 1, 1953, and ending June 30, 1954, on all property within the corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, a property tax of $ 1'.25 upon each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided, and the tax so levied and to be collected is hereby appropriated as 3 4r ~ 6 follows: \ General Fund $ .0786 Street Fund $ .5445 Library Fund $ .1865 Park Improvement Fund $ .4404 16 17 18 SECTION TWO: That there is also hereby levied for said fiscal year upon all property within the corporate limits of the 19 20 21 22 City of San Bernardino a special tax of $ .2416 on each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the aounty of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided, which tax so levied, and to be collected, shall be applied to the payment of the obligations of the City of San Bernardino to the State Employees' Retirement System. SECTION THREE: That there is also hereby levied for said fiscal year upon all property within the corporate limits of 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 the City of San Bernardino a special tax of $ ~ on each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as asseBsed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, a 31 32 1 2 5 " e 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 le 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24r 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 52 '';ft.;i;'- ~ the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided, which tax so levied, and to be collected, shall be applied to the pay- ment of the principal and interest on the Public Hall Bonds due and to become due, or to accrue during said fiscal year. SECTION FOUR: That there is also hereby le vied for said fiscal year upon all property within the corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, a special tax of $ .0382 on each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino" as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided, which tax so levied, and to be collected, shall be applied to the payment of the principal and interest on the Outfall Sewer Bonds due or to become due, or to accrue during said fiscal year. SECTION FIVE: The taxes and special assessment tax hereby levied shall be collected at the same time and in the same manner as State and County taxes, and when collected, shall be paid to the Treasurer of the City of San Bernardino. SECTION SIX: The respective amounts hereinbefore de- signated as being the amount of taxes levied on each one hundred dollars of the assessed valuation of the property hereinbefore referred to are hereby fixed as the respective rates of the tax for said fiscal year for the purposes hereinbefore designated, which said rates are fixed and designated in the number of cents upon each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of said property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized and returned to said Common Council by the County Auditor of said County, as required by Section 3 of the Acts of the Legislature hereinafter referred to. SECTION SEVENI The City Clerk is here~y directed to imWediately transmit to the County Auditor of the County of San Bernardino a certified copy of this Ordinance and a statement of the tax hereby levied. and certified copies of Ordinance No. 1891 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 115 16 17 18 19 20 31 32 ._< -=.,,:,."'~ r; I i 1 and No. 1895 SECTION EIGHT: It is hereby found and determined and delcared that this Ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, in that this Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Section 131 of the Charter of said City, and an Act of the Legislature of the State of California. approved March 27, 1895, therein referred to, by the provisions of which Act this Ordinance must take effect before the last Tuesday in August, 1953, in order to levy a valid tax for the purposes aforesaid, and without which Ordinance and tax there will be no revenue or funds to defray the expenses of said City. 2 3 4 D 6 SECTION NINE: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance by a two-thirds vote of the Common Council, and cause the same to be published in the SAN BERNARDINO EVENING TELEGRAM, a daily newspaper published and circulated in the City of San Bernardino, for three consecutive days. SECTION TEN: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately after its passage and approval.
