WHEREAS, by resolution, the Ma~'or and Common Council of the City of
San Bernardino declared its intention to call a special election to be held
on the nineteenth day of January, 1954, in certain inhabited territory contigu
ous to said City proposed to be annexed to said Cit;j', for the purpose of sub-
mitting to the qualified electors residins in said territory the question
",hether or not said territory shall be annexed to said City; and
.iHEREAS, a copy of said resolution was published as reQuired by 13.101;
and
1;,HEREAS, at a ti;ne not later than the hour set by said resolution
for hearing objections to the proposed election no written or oral protests
were made by the O1,ners of a majority of separate parcels of property within
the territory proposed to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have been had in accordance with said
resolution and the Annexation Act of 1913, reference thereto herelrJ being
made for further particulars;
Nm:, TIEREFORS, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
Bernardino do ordain as follows:
SECTION ONE: A special election hereby is called to be held on
the 19th day of January, 1954. in the territory hereinafter described and
proposed to be annexed to the City of San Bernar(~no, for the purpose of sub-
mitting to the ","ualified electors residing in said territory the question
whether or not such territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in, and made
a part of said City of San Bernardino, and whether or not the property in said
territory shall, after such annexation, be subject to taxation, equally with
the property within the City of San Bernardino, to pay the entire bonded in-
debtedness of the City of San Bernardino outstanding at the date of filing
of the petition for annexation.

of Maps, Page 2, records of the COlli1ty Recorder of San Ber-
nardino COUI1ty, described as follows:

BEGINNTIW at a point in the present corporate limits of the
City of San Bernardino, said point being 20.00 feet north of
the center line of Cardiff Avenue and 485.50 feet east of the
centerline of Waterman Avenue; thence easterly along a line
parallel to the center line of Cardiff Avenue to a point on
the northerly prolongation of the east line of the west one-
half C!) of Lot 20, Block 45, Ri\NCHO SAN BERNARDINO, as per
plat thereof recorded in Book 7 of Maps, Page 2. records of
the County Recorder of San Bernardino County; thence southerly
along said east line to the south line of Lot 20; thence westerly
along the south line of Lot .20 and Lot 21 to a point on the
present corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, said
point being on the center line of Waterman Avenue; thence
northerly along the center line of Waterman Avenue, being
along the present corporate linits of the City of San Bernardino,
to a point 20.00 feet north of the center line of Cardiff Ave-
nue; thence easterly along a line parallel to the center line
of Cardiff Avenue, being along the present corporate limits of
the City of San Bernardino, 485.50 feet to the point of begin-
ning.

. SECTION 'TIm: TIME OF OPENING AND CIDSU!G OF POLI.'3. The polls at
1& said election shall be opened at 7 o'clock A. 14. of the day herein fixed for
17 the holding of said election and shall be kept open until 7 o'clock P. M. of
18 the same day, when the polls shall be closed.

SECTION THREE: BALLOTS. Upon the ballots to be used at said elec-
tion there shall be printed the words:

word "Yes" the vote of such elector shall be counted in favor of the annexation
of said territory to the City of San Bernardino, and if an elector shall stamp

3 In all particulars not herein recited said election shall be held
4 in confo,rmity, as near as may be, with the laws of the state of California
5 concern~ng general elections and with said Annexation Act of 1913.

,sECTIOL FOUR: For purpose of said election there hereby is estab-
7 lished in the territory described herein one (1) voting precinct, which shall
8 include all of said territory. The follO\'ling is the polling place of said
10 of election and shall constitute the board of election for such election pre-

SECTION FIVB: This ordinance shall take effect upon its publication.
SECTION SIX: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adop-
19 tion of this ordinance by the Council of the City of San Bernardino and shall
20 cause the same to be published three consecutive days in the San Bernardino
21 Evening Telegram, a daily newspaper of general circulation printed and pub-
22 lished "ithin the City of San Bernardino, and once a week for four (4) weeks
23 prior to the date of the election in the Colton Daily Courier, a newspaper of
24 general circulation printed and published outside of the City of San Bernar-
25
dino but in the County of San Bernardino, California, which said ordinance

26 shall be preceded by the words "Notice of Election", and that due publication
27 of this ordinance as herein provided is hereby determined to bc sufficient
28 notice of said election, and the only notice that shall be required to be
29 given.
