HomeMy WebLinkAbout2036ORDINANCE NO. 2036 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PARKING METER ZONES AND THE REGULATIONG, CONTROLLING AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION OF THE TIME PARKING OF VEHICLES THEREIN BY THE USE OF PARKING METERS; PRESCRIBING LIMITS OF THE TIME FOR PARKING IN PARKING METER ZONES; AND PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE ORDINANCE AND PUNISHMENT FOR ITS VIOLATION AND PREPEALING ORDINANCES NO. 1749, NO. 1753, AND NO. 1778. THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDIAN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION ONE: That all streets or portions of streets within the City of San Bernardino that are now zoned for business, light industry or heavy industry, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 1991, being the City Zoning Ordinance, or may hereafter be zoned for business, light industry or heavy industry, are hereby declared to be parking meter zones, and in the event parking meters are established, as herein provided, along the curb adjacent to any parking space in said zone, the provision of this ordinance shall govern parking in such parking space. SECTION FOUR: (a) That the Chier or Police shall have lines and markings painted upon the curb or street adjacent to each parking meter, designating the parking space ror which said meter is to be used, and each vehicle parked adjacent to any parking meter shall park within such line or marking; (b) It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle across any such line or marking, or to park a vehicle in such a position that it shall not be entirely within the space designated by such lines of markings; (c) It shall be unlawrul and a violation or the pro- visions of this Ordinance ror any person to cau.se, allow, permit or surrer any vehicle registered in his name or operated or con- trolled by him to be parked overtime or beyond the period of legal parking established ror any parking meter zones; (d) It shall be unlawrul ror any person to cause, allow or Bufrer any vehicle registered in his name or controlled by him to be upon any street of any parking meter zone in any space ad. jacent to which a parking meter is installed, for any time during which the meter is showing a signal indicating that such space is illegally in use other than such time as is necessary to operate the meter to show legal parking; (e) That st'd parking meters and the provisions of this ~dinance relative to their operation shall be effective only 24 between the hours of 9:00 o'clock A.M. and 6:00 o'clock P.M. of 25 every day, except Sundays or legal holidays.
