AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES FOR THE CURRENT YEAR
UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, IN
ORDER TO PROVIDE A REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF
SAID CITY, AND TO PAY THE BONDED AND OTHER INDEBTEDNESS THEREOF.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION ONE: That there is hereby levied for the present
fiscal year, beginning July I, 1955, and ending June 30, 1956,

on all property wi thin the corporate 11mi ts of the City of San

I Bernardino, a property tax oft:l.05~" upon each one hundred dollars,

using as a basis the value of such property as assessed by the

County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may
be equalized, and returned as herein provided, and the tax so
levied and to be collected is hereby appropriated as follows:

SECTION TWO: That there is also hereby levied for said
fiscal year upon all property within the corporate limits of the
City of San Bernardino a special tax of $.2063- on each one
hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as
assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino,
as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided,
which tax so levied, and to be collected, shall be applied to the
payment of the obligations of the City of San Bernardino to the
State Employees' Retirement System.
SECTION THREE: That there is also hereby levied for
said fiscal year upon all property within the corporate limits of
the City of San Bernardino a special tax of $.0086 on each one "-

1 11 the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided, which

2 I tax so levied, and to be collected, shall be applied to the pay-
3 I ment of the principal and interest on the Public Hall Bonds due
4 and to become due, or to accrue during said fiscal year.

SECTION FOUR: That there is also hereby levied for said
6 fiscal year upon all property within the corporate limits of the
7 City of San Bernardino, a special tax of $ .005 on each one
8 hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as
9 assessed by the C01IDty Assessor of the County of San Bernardino,
10 as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided,
11 which tax so levied, and to be collected, shall be applied to
12 the payment of the principal and interest on the Outfall Sewer
13 Bonds due or to beoome due, or to aoorue during said fiscal year.

SECTION FIVE: The taxes and speoial assessment tax hereby
15 levied shall be oollected at the same time and in the same manner
16 as State and County Taxes, and when oolleoted, shall be paid to
17 the Treasurer of the City of San Bernardino.

SECTION SIX: The respeotive amounts hereinbefore dl!lsig-
19 nated as being the amount of taxes levied on each one hundred
20 dollars of the assessed valuation of the IX' operty hereinbefore re-
21 ferred to are hereby fixed as the respeotive rates of the tax for
22 said fisoal year for the purposes hereinbefore desi_gnated, whioh
23 said rates are fixed and designated in the number of oents upon
24 eaoh one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of said
25 property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San
26 Bernardino, as the same may be equalized and returned to said
27 Common Council by the County Auditor of said County, as required by
28 Seotion 3 of the Acts of the Legislature hereinafter referred to.

SECTION SEVEN: The City Clerk is hereby directed to
30 iwmediately transmit to the County Auditor of the County of San
31 Bernardino a oertified copy of this Ordinanoe.

SECTION EIGlfl: It is hereby found and determined and
2 declared that this Ordinance is urgently required for the
3 immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety,
4, in that this Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the provisions of
5 Section 131 of the Charter of said City, and an Act of the
6' Legislature of the State of California, approved March 27, 1895,
7 1 therein referred to, by the provisions of which Act this Ordinance
8, must take effect before the last Tuesday in August, 1955, in order
9 i to levy a valid tax for the purposes aforesaid, and without which
10: Ordinance and tax there will be no revenue or ftmds to defray the
11: expens e s of said City.

SECTION NINE: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
13, of this Ordinance by a two-thirds vote of the Common Council, and
14 cause the same to be published in the SAN BERNARDINO EVENING TELE-
15 i GRAM, a daily newspaper published and circulated in the City of
16! San Bernardino, for three consecutive days.

SECTION TEN: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in

18! force immedia~ely after its passage and approval.
