a ~~ ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNfu~DINO PROHIBITING
THE SELLING, GIVING OR LENDING OF FIREARMS OR OTHER DEADLY \^lEAPONS
3 TO MINORS AND FORBIDDING THE POSSESSION THEREOF BY MINORS AND
PROVIDING PENALTIES THEREFOR.

5 00 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION ONE: No person except a parent or guardian shall
7 purch~se from, sell, exchange, give, lend or furnish to any per-
8 son under the age of 18 years a rexolver or pistQl of any descrip-
9tion, shotgun, or rifle which may be used for the explosion of.
10 cartridges, or any air-gun, "B-B gun," gas-operated gun or spring
11 gun, or any knife or knives having the appearance of a pocket
12 knife, the blade or blades of which can be opened by a flick of
13 a button, pressure on the handle or other mechanical devices; or
14 any instrument, toy or weapon commonly known as a "slingshot,"
15 or any bow made for the purpose of throwing or projecting missiles
10 of any kind by any means whatsoever, whether such instrument is
i7 called by any name set forth above or by any other name.

SECTION TWO: No person under the age of 18 years shall
19 have in his possession, care, custody or control any of the
20 articles mentioned in Section One of this' ordinance except within
21 his own domicile or except when accompanied by and under the
22 immediate supervision of a parent or guardian.

SECTION THREE: Every police officer taking a weapon used
24 in violation of this Ordinance, shall deliver the same to the
25 Chief of Police to be held by him until the final determination
26 of the prosecution for said offense; and upon the finding of
27 guilt it shall then be the duty of the Chief of Police on a first
28 offense to return the weapon to the owner and on a second offense
29 to confiscate and destroy it.
30 SECTION FOUR: PENALTIES. Any person ~o violates any

31 provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
32 meanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not exceeding

1 $500.00, or by imprisonment for not more than 180 days, or by
2 both said fine and said imprisonment.

SECTION FIVE: The passage of this ordinance is an
4 emergency matter. and said ordinance shall be in force and take
5 effect immediately after its passage and approval.
