AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO CAWNG A SPECIAL ELECTION ITO BE HELD ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF JUNE, 1956, PERTAINING TO THE ANNEXATION OF A 4 I DISfRlCT CALLED: I) ! "ANNEXATION DISfRICT NO. 90" I 6 WHEREAS, by resolution, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of 7 San Bernardino declared its intention to call a special election to be held on , 8 the twelfth day of June, 1956, in certain inhabited territory contiguous to said 9 City proposed to be annexed to said City, for the purpose of submitting to the 10 I qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not said I 11 I t erri tory shall be annexed to said City; and 12 I WHEREAS, a copy of said resolution was published as required by law; 13 land 14 WHEREAS, at a time not later than the hour set by said resolution for 15 hearing objections to the proposed election no written. or oral protests were 16 made by the owners of one-half of the va~ue of the territory proposed to be I . '" 17 annexed as shown by the last equali?Jed assessment roll of the property within the 18 territory proposed to be annexed: and 19 WHEREAS, all proceedings have been had in accordance with said resolu- 20 tion and the Annexation Act of 1913, reference thereto hereby being made for 21 fur~her particulars; 22 NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernar- 23 dino do ordain as follows: 24 SECTION ONE: A special election hereby is called to be held on the 25 12th day of June, 1956, in the territory hereinafter described and proposed to 26 be annexed to the City of San Bernardino, for the purpose of submitting to the 27 qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not such 28 territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in, and made a part of said City of 29 San Bernardino, and whether or not the property in said territory shall, after 30 such annexation, be subject to taxation, equally with the property within the 31 City of San Bernardino, to pay the entire bonded indebtedness of the City of San '32 Bernardinq outstanding at the date of filing of the petition for annexation. ,. ..,.. .,. .. 1 .. .:, , 1 a 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10; I 11 '; ii 12 ! 13 i: 14 : 15 : 16 : 17 18 19. 20 21 22 ,~~ ., I..,.. . Said territory is described as follows: All of Lots 9, 10, 12 and portions of Lots 8, 11 and 14 of Block 42, Rancho San Bernardino, as per plat recorded in Book 7 of Maps at Page 2, Records of the County Recorder of San Bernardino County, described as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the present corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, said point being on the South line of Ninth Street, 82.5 feet wide, as delineated on said map of the Rancho San Bernar- dino, and said point being 417.6 feet east of the center line of Waterman Avenue, 82.5 feet wide, as delineated on said Map of Rancho San Bernardino; thence Westerly 417.6 feet along the South line of said Ninth Street, being along the present corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, to the center line of said Waterman Avenue; thence Northerly along the center line of said Waterman Avenue, being along the present corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, to a point 150 feet South of the South line of Base Line Street, 82.5 ,feet wide, as delineated on said Map of the Rancho San Bernardino; thence Easterly, and parallel to the South line of said Base Line Street, being along the present corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino to a point 200 feet east of the center line of said Water- man Avenue; thence Northerly and parallel to the center line of said Waterman Avenue, being along the present corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, to the South line of said Base Line Street; thence Easterly along the South line of said Base Line Street, being along the present corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, to a point 300 feet West of the North east corner of said Lot 14; thence Southerly and parallel to the East line of said Lot 14, to the South line of said Lot 14; thence Westerly along the South line of said Lots 14 and 13 to the Northwest corner of the East 8 acres of said Lot 8; thence South 00 05' East 1056.35 feet beiD~,along the West line of the East 8 acres of said Lot 8, and the Southerly prolonga- tion of the West line of the East 8 acres of said lot 8 to the Soath line of said Ninth Street; thence Westerly along the South line of Ninth Street to the point of beginning. Basis of bearing is the North line of said Ninth Street being South 89 Degrees 51 minutes East, as per deed to"the San Bernardino City Schools, recorded October 18, 1954, in Book 3487 of Official Records at Page 452, Records of the County Recorder of San Bernardino County. SECTION TWO: TIME OF OPENING AND CLOSING OF POLLS. The polls at 23 said election shall be openeq at 7 o'clock A. M. of the day herein fixed for 24 the holding of said election and shall b,e, kept open until 7 0' clock P. M. of '25 the saaieday, when the' polls shall' be closed. 26 28 27 there shall be printed the words: ' SECTION THR~:, BALLOTS. Upon the ballots to be used at said election SHALL ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 90 BE ANNEXED TO, INCORPORATED IN AND 29 MAl)E A PART OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AND THE PROPERTY IN SUCH TERRITORY 30 BE, AFrER SUCH ANNEXATION, SUBJECT TO TAXATION EQUALLY WITH THE PROPERTY WITHIN 31 THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, TO PAY ITS PRO-RATA PORTION, BASED UPON ASSESSED 32 VAUJATION OF ALL BONDED INDFBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO OurSTANDlNG .. -2- ,.:.... .... j. ...... . ~.... . >- .. . . 1 AT THE DATE OF THE FILING OF THE PETITION FOR ANNEXATION? 2 Opposite these words there shall be printed the words "Yes" and "No", 3 and to the right of each of these last two words there shall be a voting square. 4 If an elector shall stamp a cross ~) in the voting square after the printed 5 word "Yes" the vote of such elector shall be counted in favor of the annexation 6 of said territory to the City of San Bernardino, and if an elector shall stamp a 7 cross (i-) in the voting square after the printed word "No" the vote of such 8 elector shall be counted against su.ch annexation. 9 In all particulars not herein recited said election shall be held in 10 conformity, as near as may be, with the laws of the State of California concern- 11 ing general elections and with said Annexation Act of 1913. 12 SECTION FOUR: For purpose of said election there hereby is established 13 in the territory described herein one (1) voting precinct, which shall include 14 all of said territory. The following is the polling place of said election 15 precinct and the following named persons hereby are named officers of election 16 and shall constitute the board of election for such election precinct: 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 Polling Place - Administration Building, Waterman Gardens Crestview & Alder Streets, San Bernardino, California Inspector - Raymond Gay 511 Sycamore Circle, San Bernardino, California Judge - Mrs. Ina S. Cowell 581 East Base Line, San Bernardino, California Judge - Mrs. Minnie Belle Hamrick 325 East Orange, San'Bernardino, California SECTION FIVE: SECTION SIX: This ordinance shall take effect upon its publication.
