ORDINANCE No.~;I~~ 1 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES FOR THE CURRENT YEAR UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, 2 IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE ~RIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY, AND TO PAY THE BONDED AND OTHER INDEBTEDNESS THEREOF. 3 4 5 6 7 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION ONE: That there is hereby levied for the presen~ fiscal year, beginning July 1, 1956, and ending June 30, 1957, on all property within the corporate limits of the City of San 8 !.O'LC'o ~ernardino" a property tax of $ 1.0260 upon each one hundred 9, dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided,. and the tax so levied and to be collected is hereby General Fund Street Fund ..'-- / - .~6io- " ,/.~7'~ .l2q2 ,33 'It .l~8 Library Fund Park Improvement Fund SECTION TWO: That there is also hereby levied for said fiscal year upon all property wi thin the corporate limit s of the ,'V 21 ).- Ci ty of San Bernardino a special tax of $ .2372 on each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided, which tax so levied, and to be collected~ shall be applied to the payment of the obligations of the City of San Bernardino to the State Employees' Retirement System. SECTION SIX: The respective amounts hereinbefore desig- nated as being the amount of taxes levied on each one hundred dollars of the assessed valuation of the property hereinbefore' i referred to are hereby fixed as the respective rates of the tax for; said fiscal year for the purposes hereinbefore designated. which said rates are .fixed and designated in the number of cents upon ".,.~ each one hundred dollars. using as a basis .the value of said property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino. as the sam:e may be. equalized and returned to said Common Council by the County Auditor of said County, as required Section 3 of the Acts of the Legislature hereinafter referred to. I 30 SECTION EIGHT: It is hereby found and determined and 31 declared that this Ordinance is urgently required for the 32 immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety. .. 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 18 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 28 27 28 29 30 ~" 32 . . 1 in that this Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the provisions of 2 S~,ct,to{}.lL31 01' the Charter of said City, and an Act of the 3 Legislature of the state of California, approved March 27, 1895, 4 5 6 7 therein referred to, by the provisions of which A~t this Ordinance nms t take effect before the last Tuesday in August, 1956, in cr der to levy a valid tax for the purposes aforesaid, and without which Ordinance and tax th~re will be no revenue or funds to defray the 8 expenses of said City. SECTION NINE: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance by a two-thirds vote of the Common Council, and cause the same to be published in the SAN BERNARDINO EVENING TELE- GRAM, a daily newspaper published and circulated in the City of San Bernardino, for three consecutive days. SECTION TEN: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately after its passage and approval. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the whole number of members of the Common Council of the City of San Bernardino is five, and that the , foregoing Ordinance was adopted by the Common Council at a~ ~~hereof, held on the ~ day of ,_~ 1956, by the following vote, to-wit: ~ AYES :.
