2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO CALLING A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF SEPT~ER, 1960, PERTAINING
3 TO THE ANNEXATION OF A DISTRICT CALLED:
4 "ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 129"
5 WHEREAS, by resolution, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of
6 San Bernardino declared its intention to call a special election to be held
7 in certain inhabited territory contiguous to said City proposed to be annexed
8 to said City, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors
9 residing in said territory the question whether or not said territory shall
10 be annexed to said City; and
11 WHEREAS, a copy of said resolution ~as published as required by
12 law; and
13 WHEREAS, at a time not later than the hour set by said resolution
14 for hearing objections to the proposed election, no written protests were
15 made by the owners of one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be
16 annexed as shown by the" last equalized assessment roll of the property within
17 the territory proposed to be annexed; and
18 WHEREAS, all proceedings have been had in accordance with said
19 resolution and the Annexation Act of 1913, reference thereto hereby being
20 made for further particulars;
21 NOW, THEREFORE, THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
22 BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION ONE: A special election hereby is called to be held on
24 the 13th day of September, 1960, in the territory, hereinafter described and
25 proposed to be annexed to the City of San Bernardino, for the purpose of
26 submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question
27 whether or not such territory shall be annexed to, incorporated in and made
28 a part of said City of San Bernardino, and whether or not the, property in
29 said territory shall, after such annexation, be subject to taxation equally
30 with the property within the City of San Bernardino to pay the entire bonded
31 indebtedness of the City of San Bernardino outstanding at the date of the

first publication of the notice of election for annexation.

Said territory is described as follows:

All that portion of Lot 8, Block 58 of the Rancho San
Bernardino, as per plat recorded in Book 7 of Maps at
Page 2, Records of the County Recorder of San Bernardino
County, described as follows:

Beginning at a point on the present corporate limits of
the City of San Bernardino, said point being the North-
west corner of Lot 14, Tract No. 1711, Norton Little
Farms, as per plat recprded in Book 25 of Maps at Page
27, Records of the County Recorder of San Bernardino
County; thence Southerly along the West ,line and the
Southerly prolongation of the West line of said Lot 14,
being along the present corporate limits of the City
of San Bernardino, to the center line .f Nineteenth
Street; thence Westerly along the center line of
Nineteenth Street to the center line of California
Street; thence Northerly along the center line of
California Street to the center line of Highland Avenue;
thence Easterly along the center line of Highland Avenue
to the Northerly prolongation of the East line of that
parcel of land conveyed to Charles S. Colquhoun and
Alice L. Colquhoun by Deed recorded in Book 1950, page
329, Official Records of the County Recorder of San
Bernardino County, ~aid East line being 380 feet West
of the East line of sdd Lot 8; thence Southerly along
the Northerly p~olongation of the East line and the
East line of said'Colquhcmn parcel to the point of beginning.

SECTION TWO: TIME OF OPENING AND CLOSING OF POLLS. The polls at
18 said election shall be opened at 7 o'clock A. M. of the day herein fixed for
19 the holding of said election and shall be kept open until 7 o'clock P. M. of
20 the same day, when the polls shall be closed.

SECTION THREE: BALLOTS. Upon the ballots to be used at said
22 election there shall be printed the words:
23 SHALL ANNEXATION DISTRICT NO. 129 BE ANNEXED TO, INCORPORATED IN
24 AND MADE A PART OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AND THE PROPERTY IN SUCH TERRI-
25 TORY BE, AFTER SUCH ANNEXATION, SUBJECT TO TAXATION EQUALLY WITH THE PROPERTY
26 WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, TO PAY ITS PRO-RATA PORTION, BASED UPON
27 ASSESSED VALUATION OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
28 OUTSTANDING AT THE DATE OF THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF THE NOTICE OF ELECTION
29 FOR ANNEXATION?
30 Opposite these words there shall be printed the words "Yes" and
31 "No", and to the right of each of these last two words there shall be a voting

1 square. If an elector 'shall stamp a cross (+) in the voting square after the
2 printed word "Yes", the vote of such elector shall be counted in favor of the
3 annexation of said territory to the City of San Bernardino, and if an elector
4 shall stamp a cross (+) in the voting square after the printed word "No",
5 the vote of such elector shall be counted against such annexation..
6 In all particulars not herein recited said election shall be held
7 in conformity, as near as may be, with the laws of the State of California
8 concerning general elections and with said Annexation Act of 1913.

SECTION FOUR: For purpose of said election there hereby is
10 established in the territory described herein one (1) voting precinct which
11 shall include all of said territory. The following is the polling place of
12 said election precinct, and the following named persons hereby are named
13 officers of election and shall constitute the board of election for such
14 election. precinct:

SECTION FIVE: This ordinance sliall take effect upon its
publication.
SECTION SIX: Tlie City Clerk shall certify to the passage and
adoption of this ordinance by the Common Council of the City of San Bernardino
and shall cause the same to be published three consecutive days in the San
Bernardino Evening Telegram, a daily newspaper of general circulation printed
and published within the City of San Bernardino, and once a week for four
(4) weeks prior to the date of the election in the Colton Daily Courier, a
newspaper of general circulation printed and published outside of the City of
San 'Bernardino but in the County of San Bernardino, California, which said
ordinance shall be preceded by the words "Notice of Election", and that due

publication of this ordinance as herein provided is hereby determined to be

sufficient notice of said "election, and the only notice that shall be required
3
4
to be given.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was duly passed and
5
adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino at an
adjourned regular meeting thereof held on the c21~ay of 9 /1~
