AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDIN-
3 ANCE NO. 2037 ENTITLED IN PART "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF PARKING METER ZONES AND THE REGULATING, CONTROLLIN
4 AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION OF THE TIME PARKING OF VEHICLES
THEREIN BY THE USE OF PARKING METERS . . ." AND PLACING THE METER
5 INSPECTORS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE CITY ENGINEER..
6 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION ONE: Ordinance No. 2037, Section Eight, is hereby
amended to read as follows:

SECTION EIGHT: It shall be the duty of theC21.ief of Police
to enforce the provisions of this Ordinance, provided that the
meter inspectors shall be under the supervision and control, and
in the department, of the City Engineer.
(a) It shall be the duty of each meter inspector to
keep an account of and report the number of each parking meter
which indicates that the vehicle occupying the parking space ad-
jacent to such parking meter is or has been parked in violation of
the provisions of this Ordinance, the date and hour of such violati n
the make and Itate license number of such vehicle, and any other

facts, a knowledge of which is necessary to a thorough understand-

ing of the circumstances attending such violation

(b) He shall issue and attach, in writing, a citation
for illegal parking in the same form and subject to the same pro-
cedure provided for by the ordinances of the City of San Bernardino
and the laws of the State of California applicable to parking meter
regulations within said city
(c) Any operator or owner tf a vehicle to whom a
citation has been issued, may within twenty-four (24) hours of the
time of the issuance of such citation, pay to the Police Departmen
in full satisfaction of such violation the sum of One Dollar ($1.0 ),
which shall be placed in the hereinafter-mentioned special fund.
Said payment may be made in person or by mailing said sum to said
Police Department, Hall of Justice, or the City Hall, San Bernardi 0,

1 California, within said period of twenty-four (24) hours. The

failure of such owner or operator to make such payment within
twenty-four (24) hours, shall render such owner or operator subject
to the penalty hereinafter provided for the violation of the pro-
visions of this Ordinance
(d) Any person violating any provision of this
Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con-
viction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding Five
Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the City or County
Jail for a period not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such
fine and imprisonment.
SECTION TWO: This Ordinance, after its passage, approval
and publication, shall take effect and be in force on July I, 1962.
