It shall be unlawful for any person who awns ii or has possession, custody or control of any vehicle to park or i2 leave ebanding such vehicle upon any street or alley for 72 or i3 more consecutive hourso i4 SECTION 1W0: Ordinance No. 1652, Section Eleven (e) is is hereby amended to read as follows: ie (e) Police officers are hereby authorized to remove from i7 streets or highways, or from public property, within the City of is San Bernardino to the nearest garage or other place of safety, 19 or to a garage designated or maintained by the Police Department, 20 any vehicle which has been parked or left standing on such street 2i or highway for 72 or more consecutive hours, or which is parked 2z on public property or on a street or highway in violation of law 23 or resolution, provided, in the lattarinstance, that signs are ', 24 posted giving notice of the removalo I 25 SECTION THREE: Ordinance No. 1652 Section Eleven (f) is 26 hereby amended to read as follows: 2~ (f) Whenever a police officer removes a vehicle from a 2e street or highway or public property as suthorized in this sec- z9 tion and the officer knows or is able to ascertain from the reg- 30 31 32 istration records in the v~hicle or from the registration rec- ords of the California Department of Motor Vehicles the name and address of the registered or legal owners thereof, such police 1 officer shall i~ediately give or cause to be given notice in Z writing to such owner of the fact of such removal, the grounds 3 thereof and of the place to which such vehicle has been removed, 4 In the event any such vehicle is stored in a public garage, a 5 copy of such notice shall be given to the proprietor of such ga- 6 rageo ~ SECTION FOUR: Oxdinance Noo 1652 Section Eleven (g) is 8 hereby amended to read as follows: 9 (g) Whenever a police officer removing a vehicle from a io street or a highway or public property under this section does not ii know and is not able to ascertain the name of the owner or for any i2 other reason is unable to give the notice to the owner as herein- i3 before provided and in the event the vehicle is not returned to i4 the owner within a period of 72 hours, then and in that event the is police officer shall i.m~ediately send or cause to be sent written i6 report of such removal by mail to the Department of Motor Vehicles'I i7 at Sacramento and shall file a copy of such notice with the pro- is prietor of any public garage in which the vehicle may be stored. i9 Such report ehall be made on a form furnished by such department ~ and shall include a complete description of the vehicle, the date, 2i time and place from which removed, the grounds for such removal 22 and the name of the garage or place where the vehicle is stored. 23 I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT the foregoing Ordinance was duly 24 adopted by the Mayor and Co~on Council of the City of San Bernar- 25 dino at a~,~ ~_ meeting thereof held on the z6 day of ~ _.c~ ~~. , 1963, by the following vote, 27 to wit: , 28 29 30 31 32 AYES: NOES: `Z;P- .r` ABSENT: ~ -2- 1 z 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 lo 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 ~ 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 2S 29 30 31 32 The foregoing Ordinance is hereby approved this _~ day of ~~r_-z ~.,l~h/ , 1963.
