AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO CREATING A
JUVENILE COMMISSION OF SAID CITY.
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDe\IN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: There is hereby created the Juvenile Coomis-
Bion of the City of San Bernardino which shall consist of seven
(7) members who shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and
Common Council. One~) member nominated by each councilman shall
serve for one (1) year; two (2) members nominated by the Mayor
shall serve for two (2) years; thereafter, all members nominated
shall be appointed by the Mayor for terms of two (2) years each.
The terms shall commence upon the effective date of this Ordinance
The Mayor and Common Council may appoint not more than five (5) ex
officio members who shall act in an advisory capacity only without
the right to vote.
Each member of the Commission, after having been nominated,
shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the
Coumon Council, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and
Common Council. Each member shall be a local elector and resident
Subsequent vacancies shall be filled and appointments shall be
made in the manner hereinbefore set forth. Each member shall
serve until his successor is appointed and qualified. Each
member shall serve without compensation. At the first meeting of
the Commission it shall choose from its members a Chairman, a
Vice-Chairman and a Secretary, who shall serve at the pleasure
26 of the Coumission. The Chief of Police shall act as adviser to
27 the Commission.

SECTION 'NO: The Coumission shall make recommendations to
29 the Mayor and Common Council concerning present and proposed
30 juvenile programs and projects in said City; it shall, upon
.31 approval of the Mayor and Common Council, sponsor and coordinate
32 any juvenile program or project of the City which is not

1 inconsistent or in conflict with the duties. programs and projects
2 of the Recreation Commission and Recreation Director or other
3 Board of Commission of the City; and it shall perform its duties
4 cooperatively with the Recreation Commission and the Recreation
5 Director and other officers and employees of said City.

SECTION THREE: The Mayor and Common Council retains the
power to set aside or modify any action taken by the Commission
and may in its discretion supersede it in any of its functions.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was duly
adopted by the Mayor and Coumon Council of the City of San
