AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDI-
NANCE NO. 2014" ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO DEMOLITION AND
MOVING OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES" AND ELIMINATING THE REQUIRE-
MENT FOR THE PAYMENT OF AN ADDITIONAL FEE FOR THE CAPPING OF ABAN-
DONED SEWER OUTLETS.
, THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS ~
SECTION ONE: Ordinance No. 2014 Section One is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"SECTION ONE: Any person, firm, or corporation desiring
to demolish, dismantle, or tear down any house, building, or struc-

ture within the City of San Bernardino or to move the same outside

the City limits shall, before proceeding with such work, file an
12
application with the Superintendent of the Department of Building
13
and Safety for a permit to do so. Said Superintendent, if he feels
14
that the granting of such permit is not contrary to public health,
15
safety, and welfare, and if he determines that the applicant has
16
I fully complied with and satisfied each and every other applicable
17
provision of local and State law, shall issue such permit; pro-
18
19 vided, however, that as a condition to the issuance of such permit,
the ~pplicant shall pay to said Superintendent a fee in a sum in

21 I accordance with the schedule set forth in Section 303 of the Uniform
221 Building Code which shall be in addition to any other fee required
2.3 i by law, and shall deposit with him a surety bond in the amount of
24 One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) to insure the faithful performance
25 by the applicant of the following condit~ons on which such permit

26 I is granted, namely~ that upon the moving or demolition, dismantlin

or tearing down of such house, building or other structure, the lot,
parcel, or site shall be cleared of all debris, brick, rock, cement
work, foundations, wee~, brush, dead or uncared for trees and
vegetation so that the premises are left in a clean and safe con-
dition.
Any permit issued under this section shall be further
conditioned upon completion of.the work of moving or demolition,

1 dismantling, tearing down and cleaning of the site within a period
2 of ninety days from the date of its issuance which period may be
3 extended by the Chief Building Inspector upon good cause shown for
4 such additional periods as may be reasonably required to carry out
5 the purposes of the permit. Said permit shall not be issued or
6 approved unless and until the applicant shall have furnished satis-
7 factory evidence to said Superintendent (1) that he has fully com-
8 plied with the provisions of Section ll19(a) of the Uniform Plumbing
9 Code or other law pertaining to the plugging or capping of abandoned
10 sewer outlets; (2) that he has obtained a permit for such plugging
11 and capping in accordance with Section 1.8 of the Uniform Plumbing
12 Code or other law; {3) that he has completed the plugging and
13 capping thereof in an approved manner as evidenced by a final
14 inspection; and (4) that he has cleaned and filled any abandoned
15 cesspool."
