AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDI-
NANCE NO. 1987 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPERATION OF
TAXICABS~ AMBULANCES. TOWING VEHICLES AND CHARTERED OR SIGHTSEEING
VEHICLES' .
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: Ordinance No. 1987 Section 4 (a) 1. is hereby
7 amended to read as follows:
8 SECTION FOUR:

1. One (1) taxicab shall be permitted for
11 each 2,000 residents of the City of San Bernardino, or major
12 portion thereof 0"

SECTION TWO: Ordinance No, 1987 Section 5 1/2 is hereby

14 amended to read as follows:
"SECTION FIVE AND ONE-HALF: After the effective date of
16 this ordinance all taxicabs except those now being operated under
17 existing carrier's permits shall be owned or leased by the carrier
18 to whom a permit to operate such taxi has been issued and no per-
19 mit shall be granted to any carrier for any taxi unless such taxi
20 is owned or leased by such carrier,"

SECTION THREE: Ordinance No, 1987 Section Fourteen (b)
22 is hereby amended to read as follows:

(b) The maximum rate shall be Forty-five cents (45~)
26 for the first one-quarter (1/4) mile, or "flagdrop"; Ten cents
27 (10~) for each additional one-quarter (1/4) mile or fraction
28 thereof. The maximum waiting time rate shall be Four Dollars
29 ($4.00) per hour, The maximum fare for extra passengers, if
30, such a charge is authorized by the Bureau, shall be Ten cents
31 (10~) for each extra passenger. The maximum fare or rate for a
32 .ervice charge involving the transportation of packages, luggage

1 and other articles shall be Twenty-five cents (25~). provided
2 that such rate or fare is authorized by the Bureau; and provided
3 further that an approved Notice shall be posted in each taxicab
4 at a conspicuous location to the effect that no charge shall
5 be made for the transportation of packages. luggage and other
6 articles. except when the same are handled by the taxicab driver
7 who may make said charge only in conformity with said Notice. and
8 provided further that where there is a pickup and delivery of mer-
9 chandise and there is no passenger involved there shall be a
10 minimum charge of $1,00."
