HomeMy WebLinkAbout29721 ORDINANCE NO._'~~`_ I' 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO WHEREBY THE CITY I OF SAN BERNARDINO ELECTS TO AVAIL ITSELF OF THE PROVISIONS OF ART- 3 ICLE 2 OF CHAPTER 1 OF DI~7ISION 4 OF TITLE 4 OF TfiE CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT CODE PERTAINING TO TIiE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES. 4~ THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO 5 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 6 SECTION ONE: That the City of San Bernardino hereby elects 7 to avail itself of those sections of the California Government Code 8~~ set forth in Article 2 of Chapter 1 of Division 4 of Title 4 of sa 9 Code, said provisions setting forth the alternative method for the 10 levy and collection of City taxes wherein and whereby the same are 11 levied and collected by the County oE San Bernardino; and until 12 further order, the assessment of taxable property within the said 13 City, and the levy and collection of taxes for revenue to carry on 14 the various departments of said City and to pay the bonded and othe 15 indebtednesst shall be assessed, levied and collected as provided 16 in said Act and the Charter of said City. 17 SECTION TWO: The County Auditor is hereby requestedl pursuan 18 to Section 43093 of said Government Coder to transmit to the legis- 19 lative body of the City of San Bernardino a written statement 20 showing the total value of all property within said City, including 21 the "Old City" as the City of San Bernardino was originally con- 22 stituted, and all property subsequently annexed thereto, as des- 23 cribed in an ordinance of said City covering Annexation District 24 Noso 1 to 214, inclusive. 25 SECTION TiiREEe Imme diaiPly upon the adoption of this 26 Ordinance, the City Clerk shall file a certified copy thereof with 27 the Auditor of the County of San Bernardino. 28 SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance is adopted as an urgency 29 measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public 30 health, safety and general welfare and shall go into immediate 3], effect pursuant to Section 131 of the Charter of said City. The 32II facts constituting such argency are that this Ordinance involves 1 2 3, 4 5 I 6 7 8 9 taxation of property and the method of the levying and collection of City taxes needed for the anticipated revenue to carry on the needs of the City.
