HomeMy WebLinkAbout3089 1 ORDINANCE NO. 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDI- NANCE NO. 2922 ENTITLED IN PART "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 3 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, VOLUME I, 1967 EDITION ."; AND AMEND- ING THE STANDARDS FOR EXITING SYSTEMS FOR BUILDINGS. 4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO 5 DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 6 SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 2922 Section Three which amends ry certain sections and provisions of the Uniform Building Code, g Volume I, 1967 Edition, is hereby amended by adding thereto an g amendment to Section 3302 Subsection (c) of said Code to read 10 as follows: 11 '~(c1 Arrangement of Exits. If two or more exits are re- 12 quired, they shall be so arranged that if one becomes unusable 13 for any cause the others will be available and usable. In 14 general the following regulations shall apply: 15 1. For rectangular shaped areas a separation of one-fifth 16 the perimeter of the area shall be considered as a reasonable 17 separation between entrances to exits or between terminations of 18 exits. lg 2. For U-shaped or Lrshaped areas an exit shall be 2p located in each wing of the area. Separations shall be such that 21 dead end corridor provisions of the Code are complied with, but 22 shall not be less than thirty (30) feet in a direct line of 23 easurement between entrances to exits or terminations of exits. 24 3. Buildings arranged around and exiting into an inner 25 ourt shall have entrances to and terminations from such exits 26 ocated a distance apart equal to thirty (30) feet or one-fifth 27 f the perimeter of the inner court whichever is the greater. 28 eparation shall be measured in a direct line between entrances 2g r terminations of the exits. Exits from the court shall be 30 eparated as required by the shape of the court. 31 Exit separation, unless otherwise specified, shall be meas- 32 red in the closest line of travel when exits are interconnected 1 by a corridor meeting the requirements of the Division. When a 2 Corridor is not used to connect exits, the closest direct line 3 measurement shall be used. 4 When exit enclosures are provided as required means of 5 egress, the shaft walls shall not be nearer to each other than 6 thirty (30) feet in any direct line of measurement." 7 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was duly 8 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San 9 Berna~rdi~no~at a ?
