2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERN INO AMENDING ORDI-
NANCE N0. 2922 ENTITLED IN PART "AN ORDINANCE . ADOPTING
3 THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, VOLUME I 1967 EDITION . "; AND
4 INCREASING THE MEMBERSHIP OF AND RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR
MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF BUILDING COMMISSIONERS.
5 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
6 DO ORDAIN AS FOLIAWS;
7 SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 2922 Section Three which amends
8 certain sections and provisions of the Uniform Building Code,
g Volume I, 1967 Edition, is hereby amended by amending Section
10 204 of said Code to read as follows:
11 "SECTION 204. There shall be and is hereby created a Board
12 of Building Commissioners of the City of San Bernardino consist-
13 ing of nine members. The appointment of each member of the
14 Board shall be subject to the approval of the Mayor and Common
15 Council. Two members shall be appointed by the Mayor, one of
16 whom shall be from among the membership of the Common Council.
17 Seven members of the Board shall be appointed by the Mayor upon
18 the recommendation of each councilman of a nominee who shall be
lg a resident of his ward, Each of such seven members shall be a
20 person who is qualified by experience and training to pass upon
21 matters pertaining to buildings and structures and shall be
22 recommended by the Building Official as so qualified. Each member
28 of the Board shall hold office for a term of two (2) years and
24 shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Common Council, The
25 Building Official shall be a clerk of the Board, The Board shall
26 serve as the Board of Appeals, All decisions and findings of the
27 Board shall be in writing or made by motion and may be approved,
28 modified or rejected by the Common Council,"
29 SECTION 2. One of the purposes of the foregoing amendment
30 is to provide a commissioner from each ward of the City of San
31 Bernardino and the appointments shall be made in such order that t ~
32 appointments upon recommendatityi of each councilman shall first
1 be madeo
2 SECTION 3o This ordinance shall become effective and opera-
3 tive on May 24, 1971,
4 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was duly
5 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Ber-
