HomeMy WebLinkAbout3225 i 1 . ~~~5 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2370 ENTITLED IN PART "AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF 3 POLICE COMMISSIONERS AND ELIMINATING THE REQUIREMENT THAT ONE MEMBER BE ADMITTED TO THE PRACTICE OF LAW. THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO 5 DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 6 SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 2370 Section Three is hereby 7 amended to read as follows: 8 "SECTION THREE: MEMBERS. The Board shall consist of nine 9 (9) members. Each member shall be a local elector. Two (2) I 10 members of the Police Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor. 11 Seven (7) members shall be appointed by the Mayor upon the recom- 12 mendation of each councilman of a nominee who shall be a resident 13 of his ward. The appointment of each member of the Police Com- 14 mission shall be subject to the approval of the Mayor and Common 15 Council. Six (6) members shall be appointed for two (2) year 16 terms and three (3) for four (4) ear terms endin on the second Y 4 17 Monday of May, 1963 and 1965 respectively, but they shall serve lg until their respective successors are appointed and have qualified 19 All successors shall be appointed to four (4) year terms or to 20 complete unexpired terms. Each member of the Board shall serve 21 at the pleasure of the Council.
