HomeMy WebLinkAbout3249 1 ORDINANCE NO,~~ 2 ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO CN TUESDAY, THE 6th DAY OF JUNE, 1972, FOR THE 3 PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY FOR THEIR APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL TWO PROPOSITIONS PERTAINING TO THE 4 DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN SURPLUS PROPERTIES OWNED BY SAID CITY. 5 WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San 6 Bernardino desire to call a special municipal election for the 7 purpose of submitting the hereinafter set forth proposed Proposi- 8 tions to the qualified electors of the City of San Bernardino for 9 their approval or disapproval, 10 NOW, THEREFORE, THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 11 SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 12 SECTION 1. That a special municipal election is hereby 13 called and will be held in the City of San Bernardino on Tuesday, 14 the 6th day of June, 1972, for the purpose of submitting to the 15 qualified electors of said City for their approval or disapproval, 16 those certain proposed Propositions pertaining to the disposal of 17 City-owned surplus property as proposed and submitted by the 18 Mayor and Common Council by Resolution No. 10953 and Resolution 19 No. which said resolutions were duly and regularly 20 passed and approved by the Mayor and Common Council. 21 SECTION 2. That said proposed Propositions shall be in the 22 form as shown below in "MeasuresSubmitted To Vote Of Voters." 23 Said election and the voting thereat shall be by ballot. Said 24 ballots shall be prepared, printed and distributed as prescribed 25 by law. Each ballot used at said election shall have printed 26 thereon, in addition to any other matter required by law, the 27 following: 28 29 30 31 32 I 1 MEASURES SUBMITTED TO 2 VOTE OF THE VOTERS 3 4 PROPOSED PROPOSITION N0. 1: DISPOSAL OF CZTY PROPERTY: Approval is hereby given to the Mayor YES 5 and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino through the Board of Water Commissioners to dis- 6 pose of certain surplus properties of the City by sale for cash or by exchange for other valuable . 7 property, as described in City Resolution No, 10953, which said properties are located within NO $ the City. 9 10 11 , ' PROPOSED PROPOSITION N0, 2: DISPOSAL OF CITY 12 PROPERTY: Approval is hereby given to the Mayor YES 13' and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino to dispose of certain properties of the City by sale for cash or by exchange for other valuable 14 property, as described in City Resolution No. , and generally located south NO 15 of i reet etween Arrowhead Avenue and Mt, View Avenue in said City. 16 17 18 SECTION 3. To vote for the Propositions, the qualified 19 elector or voter may stamp a cross C+) in the voting square after 20 the word "YES", to the right of the description of said Proposi- 21 tions. If a voter stamps a cross in the voting square after 22 the printed word "YES", his vote shall be counted in favor of the 23 adoption of the measure. 24 To vote against the Propositions a cross may be stamped 25 in the voting square after the word "NO", to the right of the 26 description of said Propositions. If a voter stamps a cross 27 in the voting square after the printed word "NO", his vote shall 28 be counted against the adoption of the measure, 29 All marks except the cross are forbidden. All distin- 30 guishing marks or erasures are forbidden and shall make the ballot 31 void. If a voter wrongly stamps, tears or defaces the ballot, he 32 - 2 - I ~f 1 may return it to the inspector of the election and obtain another 2 ballot. ~ 3 SECTION 4. That said special municipal election be and the- 4 same is hereby consolidated with the statewide primary election 5 to be held on Tuesday, the 6th day of June, 1972, and the election 'I 6 precincts, polling places, voting booths and election officers 7 for said election shall be the same election precincts, polling 8 places, voting booths and election officers for this special 9 municipal election; and the proposed propositions hereinabove 10 submitted shall be printed upon the same ballot used in said 11 statewide primary election. 12 SECTION 5. That within the time prescribed by the State 13 Constitution, said entire proposed propositions shall be published 14 three times in the San Bernardino Sun Telegram, being a newspaper 15 of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in said 16 City. In addition, and pursuant to the provisions of said State 17 Constitution, copies of said proposed Propositions shall be 18 printed in pamphlet form, and mailed to each of the qualified 19 electors of said City, and a notice shall be published in the 20 aforesaid newspaper as required by said Constitution to the effect 21 that additional copies of said proposed Propositions may be ob- 22 tained from the City Clerk upon application thereof. 23 SECTION 6.
