HomeMy WebLinkAbout3251 I~ 1 ORDINANCE NO.~,~ 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDINANCE NOo 1991 KNOWN AS THE °LAND USE ZONING ORDINANCE"~ AND 3 PROVIDING .FOR THE DIMENSIONS, RESTRICTIONS AND USE OF SIGNS IN THE °A-P" DISTRICTSo 4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BER- 5 NARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 1991 Section 20.10 Subsection 7 A-9 is hereby amended to read as follows: g "9, "A-P" ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL DISTRICT: g ao No signs shall be permitted in the "A-P" Administrative 10 and Professional District except those which indicate the name 11 of the building, or the name and profession, service or business 12 of the occupant, or the principal use of the building, Roof 13 signs shall not be permitted. An authorized sign shall be placed 14 on the building in which the use is maintained or placed on 15 canopies attached to said building, iQo signs shall project above 16 the eave lines of the.. building or parapet wall of the building, 17 Notwithstanding any provision in Section 21.4-D to the contrary, 18 such canopies or signs shall not extend more than four (4) feet lg into any required front, side or rear yard. The signs may be 20 lighted but the use of flashing or blinking signs are prohibited. 21 bo One C1) detached name glate sign shall be permitted in 22 said district and said sign may be located in the required front, 23 side, or rear yard areas provided that the following regulations 24 are not exceeded: 25 1. The sign shall not exceed a height of eight (8) feet above average ground level across the frontage of the lot. 30 3. The sign shall be located not less than five (5) 31 feet from any street property line, 32 i i 1 4. Signs may be lighted but the use of flashing or 2 blinking signs are prohibited. 3 5. The Planning Commission shall have the latitude to 4 grant exceptions to the above standards when in its opinion the 5 size, shape, location or topography of the building site is such g that a variance is necessary, The Planning Director shall be 7 permitted to grant exceptions to the above standards provided g such exception does not exceed ten C10) percent of the permitted g heights and areas. 10 c. Parking lot directional signs not exceeding three (3) 11 square feet in area shall be permitted at each public entrance to 12 or exit from the parking lot.
