2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 1991 KNOWN AS THE "LAND USE ZONING ORDINANCE"; AND PROVIDING
3 FOR AUTOMOBILE IMPOUND YARDS AND HOUSE MOVING STORAGE YARDS IN
"M-l" DISTRICTS.

THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
5 DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 1991 Section Sixteen Subsection
7 16.1 is hereby amended to read as follows:

"16.1 USES PERMITTED - No building or structure or land
9 shall be used and no building or structure shall hereafter be
10 erected, structurally altered, enlarged or maintained except for
11 the following purposes:

A. Assembly of small electrical and mechanical appliances
13 and electronic instruments.
14
B. Automatic screw machines, blacksmith shops and machine
15 shops, excluding punch presses over twenty (20) tons, drop
16 hammers.

C. Automobile assembly, battery manufacturing, body and
18 fender works, painting, rebuilding, reconditioning, tire retread-
19 ing and recapping, truck repairing and overhauling, upholstering
20 and like uses.

D. Automobile impound yards, subject to a conditional
22 development permit.

E. Automobile service stations, including locations where
24 gasoline dispensing pumps are installed for the sale of motor
25 fuels in combination with some other type of retail service,
26 subject to a conditional development permit. Service station
27 pump islands shall not be closer than fourteen (14) feet from the
28 street property line which distance shall be measured from the

1 nearest street property line to the nearest edge of the pump
2 island.
3 F. Contractors storage yards when conducted entirely within
4 a building or within an open space entirely enclosed with a six
5 (6) foot high chain link fence or six (6) foot high masonry wall.
6 The front wall or fence shall be set back not less than six (6)
7 feet from the front property line. The six (6) foot set back
8 area shall be landscaped and maintained.
9 G. Draying and freight yards.
10 H. Electric distribution substations.
11 I. Feed and fuel yards, subject to the same provisions as
12 required in paragraph F.
13 J. House moving storage yards, subject to a conditional
14 development permit.
15 K. Laundries and dry cleaning plants, carpet and rug clean-
16 ing plants and like uses.
17 L. Lumber yards, subject to the same provisions as required
18 in paragraphF.
19 M. Machinery rentals when conducted entirely within an
20 enclosed yard as required by paragraphF.
21 N. Manufacture and maintenance of billboards and electrical
22 signs, commercial advertising structures, subject to compliance
23 with the provisions of section 20.10. Light sheet metal products
24 including heating and ventilating ducts and equipment, cornices,
25 eaves and the like.
26 O. Manufacture of novelities, metal and rubber stamps and
27 toys.
28 P. Manufacturing, compounding, assembly or treatment of

[ articles or merchandise from the following previously prepared
2 materials: bone, cellophane, canvas, cloth, feathers, felt,
3 fibre, fur, glass, hair, horns, leather, paints not employing a
4 boiling process, paper, plastics, precious or semi-precious
5 metals or stones, shells, textiles, tobacco, wood and yarns.

Q. Manufacturing, compounding, processing, packaging or
7 treatment of products such as: bakery goods, candy, cosmetics,
8 dairy products, drugs, food products (excluding sauerkraut,
9 vinegar, yeast and the rendering of fats and oils), perfumes and
[0 toiletries.

R. Manufacturing of figurines, pottery or similar ceramic
12 products using only previously pulverized clay in kilns fired by
13 electricity or gas.

S. Movie studios.
T. poultry or rabbit killing incidental to sale on the
16 premises.

U. Repair garages.
V. Retail lumber yards including incidental mill work.
W. Small boat building and repairs.
x. Veterinarian animal hospital.
Y. Wholesaling and warehousing.
Z. Such other uses which the commission determines to be
similar in nature and does not produce obnoxious noise, odor,
dust, smoke, glare and other nuisances."
