HomeMy WebLinkAbout3380 1 "- ORDINANCE NO., i i)j/) ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMD~NDING ORDINANCE NO. 2900 ENTITLED IN PART "AN ORDINANCE. . .REGULATING THE INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF MOTION PICTURE AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. . ."; AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR MOTION PICTURE PROJECTIONISTS. 2 3 4 5 6 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 7 SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 2900 Section Four is hereby 8 amended to read as follows: 9 "Section Four: Motion picture Machine Projectionist- Application-Permit. Before any person shall engage in the opera- 11 tion of a motion picture machine, he shall register his name, 10 12 age, place of residence and experience in operating a motion 13 picture machine, on a form to be kept by the Electrical Depart- 14 ment, and shall make an application in writing to that Departmen 15 for a permit to operate such motion picture machine. Upon filin 16 such an application, the applicant shall pay to said City the su 17 of Twenty Dollars ($20.00). 18 If such application indicates, to the reasonable satisfac- 19 tion of the Electrical Department, that the applicant has had 20 sufficient experience, he shall appear before a Board of 21 Examiners consisting of the Electrical Superintendent, (herein- 22 after sometimes called Chief Electrical Inspector), or his 23 delegated representative in the Electrical Department, a member 24 of the Fire prevention Division, and one Journeyman Proj,ection 25 Operator appointed by the Mayor. 26 If the Board of Examiners, after a due and thorough oral, 27 written, or performance examination, or any combination thereof, 28 shall find such applicant has sufficient knowledge, skill and 1 ability to operate a motion picture machine with safety, the 2 Electrical Department shall issue to such applicant a permit to 3 operate a motion picture machine in the City. If any applicant 4 shall fail to pass said examination, such applicant may file an 5 application for re-examination after one (1) month has passed 6 from the time of the previous examination. Each applicant shall 7 pay to said City the sum of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) for each 8 subsequent examination to defray the costs of conducting said 9 examination. A permit shall not be issued to any person under 10 the age of eighteen years. 11 The examination for a Motion Picture Machine Projectionist 12 shall include a performance test which a successful applicant 13 must pass by demonstrating familiarity with and knowledge of the 14 use of acetate film, fire prevention and emergency fire suppression 15 procedures, and the handling and replacement of Xenon tubes." 16 SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 2900 section Five is hereby 19 repealed.
