HomeMy WebLinkAbout3442 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 r ~~ ORDINANCE NO.r~ 2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES FOR THE CURRENT YEAR UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY; IN ORDER TO PROVIDE REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPART- MENTS OF SAID CITY AND TO PAY THE BONDED AND OTHER INDEBTEDNESS THEREOF. . 3 4 5 6 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 7 SECTION 1. That there is hereby levied for the present fiscal year, beginning July 1, 1974 and ending June 30, 1975 on all property within the corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, a property tax of $1.1816 upon each one hundred dollars of the assessed value of such property as assessed by the 8 9 10 County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized and returned as herein provided; and the tax so levied and to be collected is hereby appropriated as follows: General Fund $ .9216 Library Fund $ .2100 Public Park Extension Fund $ .0500 SECTION 2. That there is also hereby levied for said fiscal 19 year upon all property within the corporate limits of the City of 20 San Bernardino a special tax of $ .5200 on each one hundred 21 dollars of the assessed value of such property as assessed by the 22 County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may 23 be equalized and returned as herein provided, which tax levied 24 and to be collected shall be applied to the payment of the obli- 25 gations of the City of San Bernardino to the Public Employees' 26 Retirement System. 27 SECTION 3. That there is also hereby levied for said fisca 28 year upon all property within the corporate limits of the City of 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 11 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 21 28 San Bernardino, a special tax of $ .0160 on each one hundred dollars of the assessed value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino as the same may be equalized and returned as herein provided, which tax so levied and to be collected shall be applied to the payment of the prin- cipal and interest on the Library Bonds due and to become due or to accrue during said fiscal year. SECTION 4. That there is also hereby levied for said fisca year upon all property within the corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino, a special tax of $ .0350 on each one hundred dollars of the assessed value of such property as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized and returned as herein provided, which tax so levied and to be collected shall be applied to the payment of the prin- cipal and interest on the Fire System Bonds, 1962, Interest and Redemption Fund, due and to become due or to accrue during the said fiscal year. SECTION 5. That taxes and special assessment taxes hereby levied shall be collected at the same time and in the same manner as state and County taxes are collected, and when collected shall be paid to the Treasurer of the City of San Bernardino. SECTION 6. The respective amounts hereinbefore designated as being the amount of taxes levied on each one hundred dollars of the assessed valuation of the property hereinbefore referred to are hereby fixed as the respective rates of the tax for said fiscal year for the purposes hereinbefore designated, which said rates are fixed and designated in the number of cents upon each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of said property -2- 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 1 II I as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardin I I 2 as the same may be equalized and returned to said Common Council 3 I to i~ediatelj Bernardino by the County Auditor of said County, as required by the Acts of 4 the Legislature hereinafter referred to. 5 SECTION 7. The City Clerk is hereby directed 6 transmit to the County Auditor of the County of San 7 a certified copy of this ordinance. 8 SECTION 8. It is hereby found, determined and declared 9 that this ordinance is urgently required for the immediate pre- servation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare in that this ordinance is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Section 131 of the Charter of said City, and an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, Statutes of 1913 and subsequent amendments, by the provisions of which Act this ordinance must take effect before the first day of September, 1974 in order to levy any valid tax for municipal purposes, without which ordin- ance and tax there will be insufficient revenues or funds on hand to defray the expenses of said City. SECTION 9.
