ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 2048 ENTITLED IN PART "AN ORDINANCE . . . PROVIDING FOR THE
CONDUCTING OF THE PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS"; AND CHANGING
THE DATES FOR THE MUNICIPAL PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS.

THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
5 DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 2048 Section One is hereby
7 amended to read as follows:

"section One: A primary election shall be held on the
9 first Tuesday after the first Monday in March, 1975 and a like
10 election shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first
11 Monday in March every four (4) years thereafter, in the City of

San Bernardino for the nomination of candidates for the follow-
ing offices:
1. Member of the City Council from the Third Ward;
2. Member of the City Council from the Fifth Ward;
3. Member of the City Council from the sixth Ward;
4. Member of the City Council from the Seventh Ward;
5. City Clerk;
6. city Treasurer;
7. City Attorney. "
SECTION 2. That Ordinance No. 2048 Section Two is hereby
22 amended to read as follows:

"Section Two: A primary election shall be held on the
24 first Tuesday after the first Monday in March, 1977 and a like
25 election shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first
26 Monday in March every four (4) years thereafter, in the City of
27 San Bernardino for the nomination of candidates for the follow-
28 ing offices:

1. Mayor;

2. Member of the City Council from the First Ward;
3
3. Member of the City Council from the Second Ward;
4. Member of the City Council from the Fourth Ward;

5 Members of the City Council shall be nominated and elected,
6 as provided by the Charter of said City of San Bernardino, one
7 from each of the following Wards by the qualified electors of
8 their respective Wards, including the First, Second, Third,
9 Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Wards. Each member shall have
10 been a resident of his Ward for at least one year next preceding
11 his election."

SECTION 3. That Ordinance No. 2048 Section Nine is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section Nine: General Elections: General elections shall
be conducted under the same laws as the primary elections and
shall be held on the first Tuesday in May of each odd-numbered
year. Names of candidates elected in the primary election shall
not appear on the ballot in the ensuing general election."
SECTION 4. This ordinance relates to municipal elections
and shall become effective and operative immediately upon its
adoption and approval.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was duly
adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Ber-
