HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-352 . , 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 RESOLU'l'ION NO. 87-352 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO REGARDING THE DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS VEHICLES. WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City to maximize the return on surplus vehicles to the extent possible; and WHEREAS, experience has shown that due to the lack of minor parts and "elbow grease" the monetary return on surplus vehicles has been greatly reduced; and WHEREAS, the California Highway Patrol has instituted a program to clean and provide minor improvements to their surplus vehicles which has proved successful in increasing the return received; and WHEREAS, staff has recommended the institution of a similar 15 program in the City of San Bernardino. 16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 17 1. When vehicles or equipment are transferred to 18 Purchasing as surplus those that are in reasonably good condition 19 will be selected for inclusion in this program. 20 2. Up to 20% of the expected return on the vehicles may be 21 expended to repair and improve the vehicles to insure the highest 22 return. 23 3. Once such vehicles and equipment are transferred to 24 Purchasing they will no longer be available for cannibalization. 25 4. An area approximately 130 feet by 30 feet on Cluster 26 Street in front of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services 27 building shall be set aside to offer and display such vehicles 28 8-19-87 1 , . 1 for sale. The area shall be fenced with chain link fence for 2 security. 3 5. A minimum price for each vehicle shall be determined 4 and displayed on each vehicle. 5 6. The public will be allowed to inspect the vehicles and 6 bid forms for sealed bids will be available from the Purchasing 7 Office. S 7. If the minimum bid is met or exceeded, the bids will be 9 awarded and the bidder notified. 10 8.
