AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES FOR THE CURRENT YEAR UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNAR- DINO, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY, AND TO PAY THE BONDED AND OTHER IN- DEBTEDNESS THEREOF. The Kayor aDd Common Council of the City of San Ber- nardino do ordain as follows: SECTION ONE: That for the purposes of this Ordinance, Annexation Districts Nos. 1 to 14, both inclusive, Annexation Di.stricts Nos. 16 to 18, both inclusive, and Annexation Dis- tricts Nos. 20 and 21, refer to those districts so designated, respectively, in Section 202, of Ordinance No. 821, entitled: "An Ordinance revising and codifying the ordinances of, and providing a code of laws of the City of San Bernardino", passed August 8th, 1921, and approved August 9th, 1921. Lighting Maintenance District No.1, of the City of San Bernardino, refers to that certain district, the forma- tion of which is approved by and which district is described in that certain resolution providing for the formation of said district in the matter of Lighting Maintenance District Ie:' No.1 of the City was passed August of San Bernardino, which said " 19, 1929, and'~oved August resolution ~I j 20, 1929, and which resolution is now on file~n the office of the City Ii Clerk of said City. SECTION TWO: That there is hereby levied for the present fiscal year, beginning July 1, 1931, and ending June 30, 1932, o~ all property within the corporate limits of the City of San Bernardino a property tax of ~l.30upon each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such prop- erty as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San .. OJ i . 15 ii:~ 0 . :1:. :; 1--1 . :> . u 16 e>t .; z ::li~ Q 17 <( . . _0 . ..J ~ z . ..J . . ~ . 18 z . . 19 20 21 22 23 24- 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 ~ each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of such lands as assessed by the County Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized, and returned as herein provided, which special assessment tax so levied and to be collected shall be paid into the City Treas- ury of said City to the credit of the fund of said Lighting Maintenance District No.1 of the City of San Bernardino, and when so collected and so paid into said City Treasury shall be used only for the payment of the expenses of said Lighting Maintenance District No.1. . SECTION ELEVEN: The taxes and the special assessment tax hereby levied shall be collected at the same time and in the same manner as State and County taxes, and when collected, shall be paid to the Treasurer of the City of San Bernardino. SECTION TWELVE: The respective amounts hereinbefore designated as being the amount of taxes levied on each one hundred dollars of the assessed valuation of all property hereinbefore referred to are hereby fixed as the respective rates of tax for the said fiscal year for the purposes here- inbefore designated, which said rates are fixed and designat- ed in the number of cents upon each one hundred dollars, using as a basis the value of said property as assessed by the Coun- ty Assessor of the County of San Bernardino, as the same may be equalized and returned to said Common Council by the County Auditor of said County, as required by Section 3 of the Act of the Legislature hereinafter referred to. .. SECTION THIRTEEN: The City Clerk is hereby directed to immediately transmit to the County Auditor of the County of San Bernardino a certified copy of this Ordinance and a state- ment of the tax hereby levied. J: :; .. . ::> u 16 Cl .; z 2: <; <( . 17 . ::; z . .J . ~ . 18 . . . 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 and declared that this Ordinance is urgently required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, in that this Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Section 131 of the Charter of said City, and an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, approved March 27, 1895 therein referred to, by the provisions of which Act this Ordi. nance must take effect before the last Tuesday in August, 1931, in order to levy a valid tax for the purposes aforesaid, and without which Ordinance and tax there will be no revenue or funds to defray the expenses of said City. SECTION FIFTEEN: The City Clerk shall certifY to the passage of this Ordinance by a two-thirds vote of the Common CounCil, and cause the same to be published in the SAN BERNAR- DINO DAILY SUN, a daily newspaper published and circulated in the City of San Bernardino for three consecutive days. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force ia- mediately after its passage.
