. AN ORDIJIAJlCE AlIENDING ORDINANCE NO. 821, EN'l'ITLED "AN
ORDINANCE REVISI~G AND CODI~ING THE ORDINANCES OF, AND PRO-
VIDING A CODE OF LAWS FOR, THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO", PASSED
AUGUST 8, 1921, AND APPROVED AUGUST 9, 1921.
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Ber-
nardino do ordain as follows:
SECTION ONE: That Ordinance No. 821, entitled "An
Ordinance revising and codifying the ordinances of, and pro-
viding a code of laws for, the City of San Bernardino", passed
August 8, 1921, and approved August 9, 1921, be and the same
is hereby amended by adding ten new Sections thereto, to be
numbered and to read as follows:

V.,..t}}' "Section 518. That it shall be unlawful to own or
harbor any dog within the City of San Bernardino, except as
herein provided, without securing a license therefor, and
maintaining a tag thereon, as herein specified".

"Section 520. That no license to own or harbor a
dog, as herein provided; shall be issued except upon an ap-
plication in writing to the Chief of Police of said City set-
ting forth the name and address of the owner or possessor of
the dog and a brief description of the dog."
"Section 521. The Chief of Police, upon the receipt
of such application, and the license fee aforesaid, shall is-
sue and deliver to such owner or possessor a license certi-
,. fying the payment of the license fee, and setting forth the

name and 'address of the applicant and a brief description of
the dog, and the number allotted to such dog, and upon receipt
of the fee of $.25 shall deliver to the applicant a tag which
shall set forth the date of the license, and the number allot-
ted to such dog, which tag shall at all times be affixed to
the collar, covering, harness or other article worn by such
dog".
"Section 522. Every dog found running at large for
which a license shall not have been issued, or which shall not

bear a tag as herein provided, shall be impounded by the P~and

Ma3t~ for the period of forty-eight hours, and in the event
the owner or possessor of such dog shall not, on or before the
expiration of said period, call for and claim said dog, and
pay the license fee therefor, and obtain a tag therefor, and
pay the sum of $1.00 for each day that the dog shall be

right to seize any dog within the City of San Bernardino hav-
ing or suspected to have rabies or hydrophobia, and in the ewnt
the City Health Officer shall determine that such dog is af-
flicted with rabies or hydrophobia, the said dog shall be

dog shall be suspected of having rabies or hydrophobia, it may

be confined by the Pu...~d Hast~r for such time as the City
Health Officer shall direct, and if the said City Health Of-
ficer shall then determine that said dog does not have rabies
or hydrophobia, it shall be returned to the owner upon pay-
ment by the owner of the sum of $.25 per day for each day
that said dog shall be kept in confinement pursuant to the
direction of the City Health Officer."

Health Officer;' and all Peace Officers of said City shall have
the right to enter upon any private property for the purpose
of ascertaining whether any dog or dogs are kept or harbored
in violation of the provisions hereof, or whether any dog is
afflicted with rabies or hydrophobia",
"Section 525. The Mayor and Common Council may q,
order require the muzzling and vaccination, or either, of any
dogs owned or harbored within the City, and may specifY the
period of time during which such dog shall be so muzzled, and
any dogs running at large which shall not be vaccinated, or
which shall not be muzzl~ft, pursuant to such order, shall be

"Section 526. That this Ordinance shall not be deemed
to apply to dogs under the age of {hree months, and which are
kept within inclosures and not permitted to run at large."

as provided in this Ordinance, is hereby fixed at the sum of
One Thousand Dollars ($1000.00)."
SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance shall be in force
and take effect from and after thirty days after its passage
and approval.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall certifY to the
passage of this Ordinance, and shall cause the same to be pub-
lished for three consecutive days in the SAN BERNARDINO DAILY
uSUN, a daily newspaper hereby designated for that purpose.
