AN ORDINANCE ELECTING TO AVAIL THE CITY OF SAN BERNAR- DINO OF THE PRIVILEGE OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES BY AND FOR THE USE OF MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS AND CITIES INCORPORATED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, EXCEPT MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS OF THE FIRST CLASS, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONSOLIDATION AND ABOLITION OF CERTAIN MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND TO PROVIDE THAT THEIR DUTIES MAY BE PER- FORMED BY CERTAIN OFFICERS OF THE COUNTY, AND FIXING THE COM- PENSATION TO BE ALLOWED FOR SUCR COUNTY OFFICERS FOR THE SER- VICES SO RENDERED TO SUCH MUNICIPAL CORPORATION", APPROVED MARCH 27, 1895, AND ALL AMENDMENTS THEREOF. The Mayor and Common Council of ~he City of San Bernar- dino do ordain as follows: SECTION ONE: The City of San Bernardino hereby elects to avail itself of the privilege of an Act entitled "An Act to provide for the levy and collection of taxes by and for the use of municipal corporations and cities incorporated under the laws of the State of California, except municipal corporations of the first class, and to provide for the consolidation and abolition , of certain municipal officers and to provide that their duties may be performed by certain officers of the County, and fixing the compensation to be allowed for such County officers for the services so rendered to such municipal corporation", approved March 27, 1895, and all amendments thereof; and until further order the assessment of taxable property within the said City, and the levy and collection of taxes for the revenue for carry- ing on the various departments of said City, and to pay the bonded and other indebtedness, shall be assessed, levied and collected as in said Act is consistent with the provisions of the Charter of said City. SECTION TWO: That the County Auditor be and he is here- by requested, when transmitting to the Mayor and Common Council -1- .. " ~ . 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 II ~ 12 >- ~ w < Z u ~ It: ci 13 00 Z ~1- C -I- ~ 14 ~.( ~ 0)0 ffi I- m 15 u Z < w 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 the statement provided in Section 3 of the aforesaid Act to set forth in said statement the total value of all property within various portions of said City, hereinafter designated, the to- tal value of all property within each portion being designated separate and apart from the other, to-wit: (1) The "Old City", and Annexation District No.1, con- solidated; (2) Annexation District No.2; (3) Annexation District No.9; (4) Annexation District No.3, Annexation District No. 4, Annexation District No.5, Annexation District No.6, Annex- ation District No.7, Annexation District No.8, Annexation District No. 10, Annexation District No. 11, Annexation Dis- trict No. 12, Annexation District No. 13, Annexation District No. 14, Annexation District No. 16, Annexation District No. 17, Annexation District No. 18, Annexation District No. 20, Annex- ation District No. 21, and Annexation District No. 22; (5) Lighting Maintenance District No.1, of the City of San Bernardino, as defined and described in the Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of said City providing for the formation of said district, which Resolution was adopted August 19, 1929, and approved August 20, 1929. That said "Old City" and said Annexation Districts Nos. 1 to 14, inclusive, 16 to 18, inclusive, and 20 to 22, inclusive, are described in Section 202, of Ordinance No. 821, entitled !IAn Ordinance revising and codifying the Ordinances of, and pro- viding a code of laws for the City of San Bernardino", passed August 8, 1921, and approved August 9, 1921, which said Ordinance -2- ,. --c.., "W' 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 ~ 12 >- J "' ~ z u h.a: cj 13 00 Z ~t- ii -I- ~ 14 t:< ~ 0)0 15 I- m 15 u z ~ m 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 No. 821 is hereby referred. to for a particular description of said portion of said City. SECTION THREE: Upon the adoption of this Ordinance, the City Clerk shall immediately file a certified copy thereof, together with a certified copy of Section 202 of said Ordinance No. 821, with the following officers of the County of San Ber- nardino: One with the Assessor; one with the Tax Collector, and one with the Auditor. SECTION FOUR: It is hereby found and declared that this is an Ordinance for the immediate preservation of the pub- lie peace, health and safety, and that this is an urgency meas- ure, it being an Ordinance provided by and adopted pursuant to Section 130 of the Charter of the City of San Bernardino, and the same shall take effect immediately upon its adoption and approval. SECTION FIVE: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance by a two-thirds vote of the Common Council of the City of San Bernardino, and shall cause the same to be published for three consecutive days in the SAN BERNARDINO DAILY SUN, a daily newspaper hereby designated-for that purpose.
