ORDINANCE NO. /':11'1 .
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING OR-
DINANCE NO. 763, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LI-
CENSING OF BUSINESS, SHOWS, EXHIBITION AND GAMES CONDUCTED OR
CARRIED ON IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, FIXING THE RATE OF
LICENSE THEREFOR AND PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION THEREOF", PASSED
MARCH 1, 1920, AND APPROVED KARCH 2, 1920.
The Kayar and Common Council of the City of San Bernar-
dino .do ordain as follows:
SECTION ONE: That Ordinance No. 763, entitled "An Or-
dinance providing for the licensing of busitless, shows, exhibi-
tion and games conducted or carried on in the City of San Ber-
nardino, fixing the rate of license therefor and providing for
collection thereof", passed March 1, 1920, and approved March 2,
1920, be and the same is hereby amended as follows, to-wit:
That Section 22 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 22. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on any public billiard or pool n>om,

$.75 per table per month, payable quarterly".
That Section 26 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 26. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on a public bowling alley, $3.00
per quarter for each such alley".
That Section 27 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 27. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on a boxing or wrestling exhibi-
tion, $30.00 per month".

That Section 39 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 39. For every person engaged or carrying on
the business or occupation of dancing teacher, $5.00 per quar-
tern.
That Section 40 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 40. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on a public dance hall, $25.00
per month, or $10.00 for each dance.
For the purpose of this Ordinance, a dance hall is de-
fined to be any place where the business of holding or conduct-
ing public dances is regularly carried on, provided that nothing
in this Section contained shall be deemed or construed to re-
quire the holder of a public dance hall, to procure any addi-
tional license to conduct a dancing academy in the event that
such dancing academy is conducted at the same location and under
the same management as said public dance hall."
That Section 41 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 41. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on a dancing club, $25.00 per
month, or $10.00 per dance".
That Section 42 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 42. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on a public dance, whether or not
for profit, to which the public is admitted either with or with-

out charge or at which the public is allowed to participate in
the dancing, either with or without charge, $25.00 per month,
or $10.00 per dance".
That Section 54 of said Ordinance be and the same is

hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 54. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on a hotel, rooming house or lodg-
ing house, boarding house or apartment house the gross annual
receipts of which business amount to less than $1000.00, $3.00
per quarter;
$1000.00 and less than ~3000.00, $5.00 per quarter;
$3000.00 and less than $10,000.00, $7.50 per quarter;
$10,000.00 and less than $18,000.00, $10.00 per quarter;
$18,000.00 and less than $30,000.00, $15.00 per quarter;
$30,000.00 and less than $50,000.00, $20.00 per quarter;
$50,000.00 and over, $25.00 per quarter".
That Section 59 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 59. For every manicuring, shampooing or hair-
dressing parlor, or any establishment where surplus hair, moles,
warts, or other facial blemishes are removed or eradicated,
$7.50 per quarter".
That Section 60 of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 60. For every person, firm or corporation con-
ducting, managing or carrying on a massage parlor where facial
massage, fomentations, massage, electric or magnetic treatment

or alcohol rubs are administered or given, where one operator
or attendant is employed, $5.00 per quarter; where more than
one operator or attendant is employed, $3.00 per quarter for
each additional operator or attendant.
Provided that the provisions of this Ordinance shall
not be deemed or construed to apply to the holder of any li-
cense to conduct a bathhouse, barber shop or natatorium, li-
censed under other sections of this Ordinance."
That Section 107-A of said Ordinance be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 107-A. For every person, firm or corporation
conducting, managing or carrying on the business of construct-
ing houses, buildings or structures as a general contractor,
except as provided in the next two Sections, $50.00 per annum
payable quarterly".
That Section 107-C of said Ordinance be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 107-C. For every person, firm or corporation
conducting, managing or carrying on the business of cement,
concrete, paint, plaster, brick mason, floor polisher, interior
decorator or wall paper contractor, and all building contract-
ors, the sum of $2~.00 per annum, payable quarterly".

That Section 107-D of said Ordinance be and the same
is hereby amended to read as folldws:

That Section 109-A.of said Ordinance be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 109-A. For every person, firm or corporation
engaged in or carrying on the business of the construction,

and repair, of awnings, $100.00 perA1ear, payable annually."
SECTION TWO: This Ordinance shall be in force and take
effect from and after thirty days after its passage and ap-
proval.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published
for three consecutive times in the SAN BERNARDINO DAILY SUN, a
daily newspaper hereby designated for that purpose.
