AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 763, ENTITLED "AN
ORDINANCE PROVIDING,FOR THE LICENSING OF BUSINESS, SHOWS, EX-
HIBITION AND GAMES CONDUCTED OR CARRIED ON III THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDIIOL FIXING THE RATE OF LICENSE THEREFOR AND PROVIDING
FOR COLLECTION THEREOF," PASSED KARCH 1, 1920, AND APPROVED
nRCH 2, 1920.
The Mayor and C~on Council of the City of San Bernar-
dino do ordain as tollows:
SECTION ONE: That Ordinance No. 763, entitled "An Or-
dinance providing tor the licensing of business, shows, exhi-
bition and games conducted or carried on in the City of San
,
Bernardino, fixing the rate of license therefor and providing
for collection thereof," passed Karch 1, 1920, and approved
March 2, 1920, b~ and the same is hereby amended by adding two
new sections thereto, to be designated "Section 53-A" and "Sec-
tion 98-A", and to read as follows:
"Section 53-A: For every person, firm or corporation
conducting, managing or carrying on the business of operating
or maintaining tables, machines or devices offered for use,
used, or operated or played as a caae or as a test of skill,
strength, physical endurance, or capacity, or for amusement,
for the operation of which a charge is made, or which is con-
ducted for profit, $5.00 per month for each such separate
table, machine, device or game; provided, however, that the
minimum license for any such business is hereby fixed at the
sum ot $50.00 per month. Said license shall be paid montluy,
in advance, on the first day of each and every month.
When anT such license is issued pursuant to the terms
hereof, the City Clerk shall issue a receipt for each separate
table, machine, device or game, and such receipt shall be at-
tached to such table, machine, device or game, and preserved
thereon during the full calendar month for which such receipt

"SECTION 9a-A. For every person, firm or corporation
conducting, managing, or carrying on the business of operating
or maintaining automatic scales, weighing devices, or penny-
in-the-slot weighing machines, 12.00 per year, payable an-
nually, for each such device."
That the City Clerk shall issue a separate receipt for
each such automatic scale, weighing device, or penny-in-the-
slot weighing machine, which shall be attached to and main-
tained thereon for the full term of the year for which the
receipt is issued."
SECTION TWO: This Ordinance shall take effect and be
in force from and after September 1, 1932.
SECTION THREE: All licenses issued pursuant to the
provisions of Section 98-A hereof, for the period between Sep-
tember 1, 1932, and December 31, 1932, shall be at the rate of
one-third of the license tax herein provided.
SECTION FOUR: The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Ordinance, and shall cause the same to be pub-
lished for three consecutive days in the SAN BERNARDINO DAILY
SUN, a daily newspaper hereby designated for that purpose.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was duly
adopted at a regular meeting of the Kayor and Common Council
of the City of San Bernardino held on the /A~ day of
