HomeMy WebLinkAbout1671ORDINANCE NO. 1671 AN ORDINANCE ELECTING TO AVAIL THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO OF THE PRIVILEGE OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTIONS OF TAXES BY AND FOR THE USE OF MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS AND CITIES INCORPORATED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, EXCEPT MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS OF THE FIRST CLASS, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONSOLIDATION AND ABOLITION OF CERTAIN MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND TO PROVIDE THAT THEIR DUTIES MAY BE PERFORMED BY CERTAIN OFFICERS OF THE COUNTY, AND FIXING THE COMPENSATION TO BE ALLOWED FOR SUCH COUNTY OFFICERS FOR THE SERVICES SO RENDERED TO SUCH MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS", APPROVED MARCH 27, 1895, AND ALL AMENDMENTS THEREOF. THE MAYOR AND COJOD:OJi COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 SEC'l'ION ONE: The City ot San Bernardino hereby elects to avail itselt ot the privilege ot an Aot entitled "An Aot to, provide tor the levy and colleotion of taxes by and for the use ot munioipal corporations and cities inoorporated under the laws ot the State of Calitornia, except munioipal corporations of the tirst class, and to provide for the oonsolidation and abolition ot oertain munioipal otticers and to provide that their duties may be pertormed by oertain otfioers of the County, and fixing the compensation to be allowed for such County oftioers tor the servioes so rendered to each munioipal oorporation., approved Maroh 27, 1895, and all 8JIleDdIIleDts thereot; and until turther order the assessment ot taxable property within the said City, and the levy and collection of taxes for the revenue for oarryi on the various departments of said city, and to pay the bonded and other indebtedness, shall be assessed, levied and oolleoted as in said Aot is oonsistent with the provisions of the Charter ot said city. SECTION TWO: That the County Auditor be and he is hereb requested, when transmitti11€ to the Ma70r and Common Council statement provided in Section 3 of the aforesaid Act, to set fo in said statement the total value ot all property within various portions of said City, hereinafter designated, the total value 0 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 16 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 1 all property within each portion being designated separate and apart from the other, to-wit: (l) The "Old City", and Annexation District No.1, consolidated; (2) Annexation District No.2; (3) Annexation District Bo. 9; (4) Annexation Distriot Bo. 3, Annexation District Bo. 4, Annexation District No.5', Annexation District No.6, Annex- ation District Bo. 7, Annexation District No.8, Annexation District No. lO, Annexation District Bo. ~i, Annexation District No. 12, Annexation ,District No. 13, Annexation Districy No. 14, Annexation District Bo. 16, Annexation District No. l7, Annex- ation District No. l8, Annexation Distriot No. 20, Annexation District No. n, Annexation District No. 22, Annexation Distriot Bo. 23, Annexation District Bo. 24, Annexation District No. 25, .' , Annexation Distriot No. 26. Annexation District No. 27, Annex~ ation District Bo. 28, Annexation District No. 29, and Annexatio , District Bo. 30; (5) Lighting Maintenance District No.1, ot the City of San Bernardino, as defined and desoribed in the Resolution of the Mayor and Common Counoil of said City providing tor the tormation of said Distriot, which Resolution was adopted August 19, 1929, and approved August 20, 1929. That said "Old City" and said Annexation Districts Bos. I to l4, inclusive, 16 to 18, inclusive, and 20 to 28, inolUsive are described in Section 202 .ot Ordinance No. 821, entitled "An Ordinance revising and oodifying the Ordinances of, and providin a code ot laws for the City ot San Bernardino", passed August 8, 1921, and approved August 9, 1921, and Annexation Distriot No. 2 is described in Ordinance No. l640, entitled "Ordinanoe Approvin Annexation", passed May 20, 1940, and approved Mal 21, 1940, and Annexation District No. 30 is described in Ordinanoe Bo. 1667, 2 3 4, l) 6 7 8 9 -2- 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 1 entitled "Ordinance Approving Annexation", passed ~epteaber 29, 1941, and approved September 29, 1941, whioh said Ordinanoes are hereby specifically reterred to tor a particular description at said portions of said City_ SECTION THREE: Upon the adoption of this Ordinance, the City Clerk shall immediately file a certified copy thereof, to- gether with a cert1fieo. copy ot Section 202 of/said Ordinanoe No 82l, together with a oertitied oopy of Ordinance No. 1640 and Ordinance Bo. l667, with the following officers of the County of San Bernardino: One with the Assessor, one with the,Tax Co1leot r, and one with the Auditor_ SECTION FOUR: It is hereby tound and declared that this is an Ordinanoe for the immediate preservation ot the public peace, health and satety, and that this is an urgency measure, it being an Ordinanoe provided by and adopted pursuant to Sectio I)O ot the Charter of the City ot San Bernardino, and the same shall take effeot immediately upon its adoption and approval. SECTION FIVE: The City Clerk shall certify to the pas- sage of this Ordinance by a two-thirds vote ot the CommonCounci of the City ot San Bernardino, and shall oause the same to be published for three consecutive days in the San Bernard1no Daily Sun. a daily newspaper hereby des1gnatedtor that purpose.
