ORDINANCE NO. 1672
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE NUMBER OF AND USE OF COIN-
OPERATED TABLES , MACHINES OR DEVICES DESIGNED AND USED AS A
GAME OF SKILL OR AMUSEMENT
THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: It shall be unlawful for any person,
firm, corporation, copartnership or association to keep, main-
tain or operate, or permit to be kept, maintained or operated,
more than one coin-operated table, machine or devioe designed
or intended to be used, or used, as a game of skill or amuse-
ment, in anyone store, building, business or establishment,
exoept that the Chief of Police may by special permit authorize
the maintenance and operation of not to exoeed two such maohines,
as follows:
1. In pool halls or bowling alleys;
2. In bona fide lodges, traternal organizations or
fraternal sooieties duly organized and operating under and by
virtue ot a national Charter, and When said machines will be so
used and operated for the entert~inment ot its bona fide mem-
bers only.
That said speoial permit may be granted by said Chief
at Polioe in the above p1aoes when said Chief shall find that
the preservation of publio peace, health or morals will not be
endangered and that no nuisance will be created by the presence
or operation of said machines, tables or devioes.
That in the event that said Chief of Police shall at
any time tind that the presence or operation of said two machine ,
tables or devices create a publio nuisance or tend to di~turb
the publio peaoe, health or morals, then said Chief may revoke
said permit.
SECTION TWO: It shall be unlawful for any minor under

the age of eighteen years to use, play, operate or participate
in the using, playing or operation at any coin-operated table,
machine or devioe designed or intended to be used, or used, as
a game of skill or amusemeRt.
SECTION THREE: It shall be unlawful for any person,
who, as a proprietor or manager of any store, building, business
or establishment wherein a ooin-operated table, maohine or
device designed or intended to be used, or used, as a game of
skill or amusement, is located, to permit any minor under the
age of eighteen years to use, play, operate or partioipate in
the using, playing or operation at any coin-operated table,
maohine or device designed or intended to be used, or used, as
a game at skill or amusement.
SECTION FOUR: A:ny person, firm, corporation, copart-
nerShip or assooiation violating any at the provisions of this
Ordinance shall be punished by a tine of not more than $500.00,
or by imprisonment in the County Jail not exoeeding six months,
or by both suoh fine and imprisonment.
SECTION FIVE: This Ordinance shall take eftect and be
in toroe thirty days after its passage and approval.

adopted by the Mayor and Common Council at the City at San
