ORDINANCE NO. 1673
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO PROVIDING
FOR THE USE OF ALTERNATE MATERIALS AND ALTERNATE METHODS OF
CONSTRUCTION WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO.
WHEREAS, the United States of Amerioa is at war, and
by reason thereof many at the materials used in the oonstruo-
tion or repair of buildings and in the installation or repair
of plumbing or eleotrioity have been ourtailed and restricted
by the united States, and in many oases it is now impossible
to obtain said materials.
NOW, THEREFORE, '!'HE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO. ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: That wherever the provisions of the tol-
lowing Ordinances - Ordinanoe No. 1407, entitled "An Ordinance
adopting a 'Plumbing Code; establishing rules and regulations
for the installation of plumbing in the City ot San Bernardino";
Ordinance No. 1418, entitled "An Ordinance adopting an Elec-
trioal Code for the City at San Bernardino, and providing a
penalty far the violation thereof"; or Ordinance Ro. 1438,
entitled "An Ordinanoe adopting and establishing rules and
regulations tor the oonstruotion of buildings within the City
of San Bernardino and adopting a Building Code tor said oity",
or any and all other provisions of any Ordinanoes of the city,
designate, specity or require the use of certain materials in
the oonstruction or repair of buildings, signs or the instal-
lation or repair of eleotrioity or plumbing, and wherein oer-
tain methods at oonstruction are presoribed, then and in the
event that the respeotive inspeotor designated to supervise
said construction, repair or the use ot said material shall
find that it is impraotioable to obtain said materials or
by reason thereof to tollow the method at oonstruotion, in-
stallation or repair as presoribed therein, then said inspeotor
1 may, with the approval of the City Engineer, approve and
2 designate alternate materials or alternate methods of construc-
:5 tion, installation or repair.

SECTION TWO: Anyone interested who is dissatisfied

SECTION THREE: That it shall be' unlawful for any per-
12 son, firm or corporation to use any alternate material or
13 alternate method of construction, installation or repair other
14 than that alternate material or alternate method of construc-
15 tion, installation or repair so designated by the respective
16 city inspector and the City Engineer of the City of San Ber-
17 nardino.

SECTION FOUR: Any person who shall'violate any pro-
19 vision of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
20 upon oonviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not
21 exceeding Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars or by imprisonment in
22 the City or County Jail not exceeding six months, or by both
23 such fine and imprisonment.

SECTION FIVE: The City Clerk shall certify to the pas-
25 sage of this Ordinance and oause it to be published three oon-
26 secutive times in the San Bernardino Daily Sun, a newspaper ot
27 general cirou1ation printed and published in this oity.
28 ,I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was duly
29 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
30 Bernardino at a regular meeting thereof held on the ~ day
31 of April, 1942, by the following vote, to-wit:
