HomeMy WebLinkAbout3713 10 11 12 13 !I 1 ORD INANCE NO. ..3 7/..3 2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO ESTABLISHING THE LEGISLATIVE DUTIES, TERM, MANNER OF APPOINTMENT, METHOD OF TERMINATION AND SALARY OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMMON COUNCIL. 3 4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 5 SECTION 1. Presiding officer. In accordance with Section 6 36 of the Charter of the City of San Bernardino, the President 7 of the Common Council shall serve on a full-time basis and shall 8 preside at all meetings of the Common Council. 9 SECTION 2. Appointment, term and termination. The Common Council shall nominate and appoint by majority vote as President of the Common Council one of their own members with the greatest seniority in office who is willing to serve as President of the Common Council. The term of such appointment shall be for at 14 least one year commencing upon the date of appointment. The 15 President shall serve at the pleasure of the Common Council. 16 SECTION 3. Duties. The duties of the President of the 17 Common Council shall relate to the legislative powers and responsibilities of the Common Council. The President of the 18 19 Common Council shall not engage in any business, professional 20 or occupational activities which interfere or conflict with the 21 discharge of the duties of the office. 22 SECTION 4. Salary. The annual salary of the President 23 of the Common Council shall be twenty-five thousand, six hundred 24 eighty dollars ($25,680.00) payable every other week. The annual 25 salary of six hundred dollars ($600.00) payable monthly to each 26 councilman is a part of and included within the annual salary of 27 twenty-five thousand, six hundred eighty dollars ($25,680.00) 28 established herein. I' 1 SECTION 5.
