AN CRDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING
AN AMENDMENT OF THE CONTRACT PROVIDING FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF
THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO IN THE CALIFORNIA STATE EMPLOYEES'
REI'IREliIEN'r SYSTEM, MAKING ITS EMPLOYEES MEMBERS OF SAID SYSTEM.
THE MAYOR AI-i'D COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNAR-
DINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That an amendment to the Contract providing
for the participation of the CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO in the State
Employees' Retirement System, is hereby authorized between the
MAYOR AND C01,nvlON COUNCIL of the CITY {F SAN BERNARDINO and the
Board of Administration, California State Employe..' Retirement
System, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto, marked
"Exhibit A", and by such reference made a part hereof as though
herein set out in full.
SECTION 2.
The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to execute said amend-
ment for and on behalf of said Agency.
SECTION 3.
This Ordinance shall take effect thirty days
after the date of its adoption, and prior to the expiration of
ten days from the passage thereof shall be published at least
three times in the San Bernardino Evening Telegram, a newspaper
of general circulation, published and circulated in the City of
San Bernardino, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was duly
adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Ber-
nardino, at a regular meeting thereof, held on the ~th day of
August, 1951, by the following vote, to-wit:

age of said final compensation, shall apply.
5. Prior service benefits to miscellaneous members E1ployed by Public AGency,
that is, members other than Local Firemen, Local Policemen, or County
Peace Officers, upon retirement for service, shall be allowed only as a
percentat;"p. of the average salary specified in Section 21253 of said
ItetireiJent Law, for each year of such service, and said percentage shall
be 100 per cent of the percentage determined under said Section for the
~ge at retirement.
6. Age 5S shall be the minimum age for retirement for service, of persons
who are members because of employment b~r Public AGency as Local l"iremen,
Local ?olicenen or County Peace Officers and the provisions of Section
21252.4 of the State Fmployees' Iletirement Law, providing for a guaran-
teed percentafe of final compensation for each year of current service
'lS '1 i:lember, shall apply to such members.

State Employees' Retirement Law, for each year of service rendered after
said date, as deterrlined for said respective members under said law, for
retirement for service ~t aGe 55, or upen qualific~tion for service
retirement at a higher ~ge. rr-a l~ember retires for service before
attaininG age 55, his prior service pension shall be r1"duced to that

at the actual age of retirement. -
The provisions of Section 21258b of the State Employees' Retirement La",
guaranteeinc a minim~~ retirement allowance lrnder certain conditions

The provisions of Section 213D7.5 of the State Employees' Retirement Law,
providinc a $300 death benefit after retirement shall apply to

The provisions of Section 20025 of the State Employees' Retirement Law,
providing t,nt there shall be no maximum limitation in the compensation
which shall be included in computations under the Retirement Law,
shall apply to employees of Public Agency who become members of
said Retircment System.

l~Public A5ency shall contribute to said ~etirement System as follows:
a. The Sill" of ~ 47.l~2.00 per annQ~, or more frequent instalL~ents as
Doard shall require, for the period of years stated in said Contract,
less the time el~psed fro~ the date of participation to the effective
date hereof.
b. ~O per cent of total salaries paid by Public Arency each month
to its employees who are members of said Retirement System, provided
that only solary earned as members of said System shall be included in
s~id total salaries, and the employees who are members of said System
shall include employees who are menbers upon the effective date hereof
and employees crho becolT.e members thereafter.
c. A reasono.ble amount per "nnum, as fixed by Board, to cover the costs
of ac:rninistering said System as it affects the employees of Public
Arency, not including the costs of special ~luations or of the peri-
odical investigation and valuation required "y law, provided that
said 1.mount shall be det81",;i:1ect on the basis of the number of employees
of Public\rency 17ho are members on July 1st of the respective fiscal
years.
d. A reasonable amount as fixed by the Board, payable in one instal~nent
from time to time as the occasions arise, to cover the costs of
special valuations on account of employeps of Public Jlgency, and the

costs of the periodical investigation into the experience under said
Retirement SJTstem, as it affects said cnployel"s, and the valuation of
the assets ;In(~ liabilities of said. S~rsterl on account of said enr>lo~lees.
Contributions required of Pu',lic \gency Qnd its employees shall be subject
to ac'cjustment by the Board of i\dministration on account of amendments to
the .State Employees I Retireclent 1<'1''', and on account of experience under the
Retirement Systen, as detemined by the periodical investigation, valuation
and deter~ination provided for by said Retirement Law.

of Public Agenc'.' to Board ma:r be made in the fom of warrants, bank checks,
banle drafb, certified checks, money orders, or cash.
3. Benefits, including retirement allO'iiances, prior to the effective date of this
amendment, shall not be affected by this amendment, unless othervlise provided
herein.
4. This amendment shall be attached to said Contract and shall be effective as
of September Is t , 19 51 .
