AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING
N Al1ENDHENT TO THE CONTRAtT PROVIDING FDR THE PA.'\TICIPATION OF THE
ITY OF SAN BERNARDINO IN THE CALIFORNIA STATE EMPLOYEES' RETIRE-
SliT SYSTEH, liAKING ITS EMPI,OYEES HElIBERS OF SAID SYSTEl1.
THE MAYOR AND COHHON COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF SAN
ERNARDINO DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That an amendment to the contract providing
for the participation of the City of San Bernardino,in the state

mployees' Retirement System, is hereby authorized between the
ayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino and the
of Administration, California State E~ployees' Retirement
System, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto marked

"Exhibi t A", and by such refere.nce made a part hereof as though

erein set out in full.

SECTION 2. The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is
ereby authorized, empowered, and directed to execute said amend-
ent for and on behalf of said Agency.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect thirty days
fter the date of its adoption, and prior to the expiration of ten
ays from the passage thereof shall be published at least three
imes in the San Bernardino Evening Telegram, a newspaper of
eneral circulation, published and circulated in the City of San
ernardino, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
force and effect.

The Board of Administration, State Employees I Retirement System, and the
~or and Common CouncU of the City of San :Bernardino ,
(Governing Body) (Name of Public Agency)
hereinafter referred to as Agency, having entered into a contract under date of
February 6 , 1945, effective March 1 , 1945,
which provides for the participation of said Agency in said Retirement System, and--
said contract being based on the Retirement Law as that Law existed prior to the ad-
dition of Section 20894.5 to said Law, referring to contributions for Military Ser-
vice, said Board of Administration and said "''%r and Common CouncU hereby agree
to amend said Contract as follows: (Governing Body)
1. The following paragraph shall be added to said contract:
The provisions of Section 208911.5 of the State Employees I Retirement'
Law, referring to contributions for Military Service, shall apply to per-
sons who are members because of employment by Agency. Agency shall con-
tribute to the State Employees' Retirement System upon the effective date
hereof, the sum of $ 8,947.73 ,toward the cost of such application.
Said amount and the determination of said cost shall be subject to adjust-
ment by the Board of Administration in the same manner as other contribu-
tions required of Agoncy under said Contract, and any adjustment determined
by the Board as necessary shall be included in the contributions thereafter
required of Agency under said Contract.
2. Benefits, including retirement allowances, prior to the effective date
of this amendment, shall not be affected by this amendment.
3. This amendment shall be attached to said contract and shall be effective
as of October 1 , 19 49.
