Dear Respected Board Members of Omnitrans,
My name is Dalia Cosio, and I have had the privilege of serving as a coach operator with
Omnitrans for several years. I am writing to you today to respectfully request your support in
addressing an issue that is becoming increasingly urgent for me and my fellow employees: fair
compensation for the vital work we do.
As you are well aware, the cost of living in our region continues to rise at an alarming rate.
However, our current hourly wages do not keep pace with this increased financial burden,
especially when compared to the wages offered by neighboring agencies like RTA and
Foothill Transit. While the work we do may seem straightforward on the surface, it is
physically and mentally demanding. The long hours, stressful situations, and constant
interaction with the public require a level of skill and dedication that should be reflected in our
pay.
In addition, the communities that Omnitrans serves are among the fastest-growing in the
country, and the demand for reliable public transportation has never been higher. We are a key
part of keeping these communities connected and functioning smoothly. It is no secret that
during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our Omnitrans managers took to the
front lines, driving buses and witnessing firsthand the challenges and sacrifices we face. This
experience, I believe, gave them a greater appreciation for the work that we do daily.
However, despite the recognition of our hard work and dedication, the gap between our pay
and the demands of the job continues to widen. We are committed to our roles and to the
communities we serve, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to continue under these
financial pressures. Our contribution to the success of this region is significant, and we
deserve compensation that reflects the importance of our work.
I appreciate your time and thoughtful consideration of this matter. I remain hopeful that you
will stand with us in advocating for a fair contract and a raise that ensures we can continue to
provide the essential service our community needs.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Dalia Cosio #3017
