I am asking my elected officials to stop the sale of my home, remove the code enforcement liens, and allow me a fair opportunity to pay the taxes due. Thank you for your time. Attachment: SB_CITY_BOARD_MEETING.docx On April 29, 2025, was before the board asking for help with Code Enforcement Liens that have been placed on my property by the San Bernardino City Code Enforcement that should not be there. Tax Collectors Office has been working overtime to assist regarding this matter and have not received any type of resolution except “The City is standing behind their actions”. The deadline for this matter is May 10, 2025. I ask that this board step in to halt the sale until further review. I have the following questions: 1. I have requested a Summary of Actual Cost for each lien from the City Clerk Mena Yousef and Code Enforcement Manager Christie Rohleder both were unable to provide me with any information? • Why hasn’t Code Enforcement provided details regarding fees imposed? 2. Code Enforcement is supposed to ensure the process is transparent and the resident can comply BEFORE penalties are imposed. • Can Code Enforcement provide documentation showing at any point there was no compliance? 3. The City off San Bernardino offers residents a one-year extension by request when making correction. • That service was never utilized, and the necessary violations were completed despite Covid-19 lockdown. 4. The liens are for nuisance and code violations, the home has been completely renovated • Why has the City Attorney pushed so hard during the whole process NOT to resolve the issue but to become “Receiver” of the home and leave another family unhoused? 5. Are the actions of Code Enforcement “fair and warranted”? 6. At what point does the city use an Attorney to handle an Abatement Violation? 7. How is the City Attorney paid? 8. Does the City Attorney receive funds from the sale of the property or the imposed property tax and/or liens? 9. Based on the Order of Events I emailed to officials, at what point did it seem that an Attorney was needed? 10. Will stopping the sale of this property cause any hardship to the City of San Bernardino? I feel that it is IMPERATIVE that officials restore the trust of the voters and people in their communities. Again, I am here before your Board asking to halt the sale and stop the disturbance of the tenants while this matter is being resolved. Thank You Loretta Hunter
