Good evening to all that are here at this council meeting, I first would like to say how important it is to be part of a community. A community that cares not only for its people but also for its pets. Communities like San Bernadino need to change for the better. Not just for the people but also for the pets. Every community wants to be known for something. Whether it's a mall or a small downtown area or its award winning football team. No community wants to be known for killing healthy pets, corruption, being filthy, or uncompassionate people. Where is the compassion in San Bernadino? Most of you have pets. Imagine your dog or cat being starved, killed and sent away to become dog or cat food. Just take a minute and think about that. Killing healthy adoptable pets is NOT nor will it ever be a solution. Here are some solutions, you received grants and funds which are to be used for spaying and neutering everyday, do that asap, hire a Veterinarian, go to area schools and educate the students about animal abuse, have more adoption events, fine irresponsible pet owners, work with shelters up in the Northern states. Because honestly compared to the North,SoCal is a death camp for pets. And it doesn't have to be. This county is profiting off of the killing of healthy adoptable pets, which is continuously breaking the law in accordance with the Hayden Act. Why do you want to be known for this?! Why not work with animal advocates and get SBC a reputation that should be about saving lives. You choose profits. Find profits in other places and not take the money that is strictly for animal welfare. These dogs and cats are starving here, they are crowded in kennels with mixed genders, they are fighting for food, they are scared, they know their defeat. This is NO animal shelter. It is unsanitary, it is filthy. It is WRONG to treat our community pets like they don't matter, like they are garbage. The truth is these pets help save lives of people in our community, they give unconditional love, they fill voids in people's lives. And what does the community do for them? Kill them? Give them a chance, they deserve it. Use the funds, grants, donations for bettering this community. Be known for a community that cares and not for being careless. Animal shelters are NOT to be profit makers where San Bernadino County makes its money from the senseless deaths of its pets. There are solutions, let's work together instead of against each other and be known for a compassionate and caring place to live with our fellow pets. Thank you Samantha
