Soldier and Sailor Memorial to honor its local heroes.
One of the most moving moments was the reading of all the names of local military
who gave their lives. The solemn moment gave meaning to the phrase ultimate sacrifice and
the importance of observing Memorial Day every year.

San Bernardino Remembers Its Fallen Heroes
$2.7 Million in Community Project Funding
Congressman Aguilar has announced that two
City proposals are among his submissions for
funding in this year’s federal budget.
$1.35 million will be for emergency resiliency in
case of fires, earthquakes or power outages. It
will fund generators for the water department to
pump water to higher elevations and batteries to
operate 50 intersections.
$1.38 million is for the police mobile crime
prevention program, to include real time
surveillance cameras and license plate readers
for downtown and other strategic locations.
City Receives $175,000 State Grantfor Heat Resiliency
Last week, Governor Newsom
announced that San Bernardino is one
of 47 communities in the State that
will be receiving Extreme Heat and
Community Resilience Program funds.
The City will be receiving $175,000 in
planning funds for integrating
conservation-focused designs, native
landscaping, and enhancing our urban
canopy to mitigate urban heat,
especially in the summer months.
California Theater Temporarily Closes
Starting this week, the historic California
Theater has been closed to perform
repairs, renovations, and upgrades to the
97-year-old theater.
In addition to the projects on tonight’s
agenda, the renovations will include
replacement of the sound system and
lighting, painting, new carpeting,
replacing the HVAC system, upgrades to
the marquee, and more.
The theater is expected to reopen in early
October.
Economic Development Conference
Members of the Economic Development team
were proud to attend the 2025 California
Association for Local Economic Development
(CALED) Annual Conference in Ontario.
The team engaged in sessions covering best
practices in small business resilience,
branding your city, workforce development,
regional coordination, and urban infill
strategies.
These discussions not only reinforced our
current initiatives but also inspired new
approaches to drive sustainable growth in
San Bernardino.
Love Your Block Mural Underway
The Arrowhead Neighborhood Association has wasted no time in
starting their Love Your Block community improvement project.
Local artist Christian Mariscal has been busy bringing new life
and color to Campo Santo Park by creating a 200-foot mural that
depicts area landmarks.
Eastside Skate Park at Speicher Opens
On Thursday, June 12 at 4:30 pm, everyone is invited to attend the re-opening celebration
of the Eastside Skate Park at Speicher Family Memorial Park.
The skate park was closed due to damage caused by a fire and has been replaced and
expanded with a completely new park that was designed with the assistance of local skaters.
The result is both challenging for experienced skaters and accessible for beginners.
