HomeMy WebLinkAboutMayor and City Council Report 8-20-25 FINALHomeland Security Incident in San Bernardino
Last Saturday, SBPD responded to reports of shots fired. Upon
arrival, officers encountered federal agents who stated they were
involved in an officer-involved shooting and the suspect had
fled the scene.
A short time later, the suspect contacted SBPD dispatch requesting
assistance, stating masked men had tried to pull him over, broke his
car window, and shot at him. Officers were able to locate and make
contact with the individual.
Under the California Values Act of 2018, California law enforcement
agencies are prohibited from assisting federal officials with
immigration enforcement. At that time, it was unclear what the
suspect was wanted for, so SBPD officers left the scene.
