Dear City Council, Mayor, and City Manager,
As a concerned resident, I am deeply troubled by the recent lack of transparency and
leadership demonstrated by the acting director of the Arts and Historical Commission. This
past Monday, the regularly scheduled commission meeting was abruptly canceled without any
prior notice to the public or explanation provided. This is not an isolated incident—just last
August, a meeting was similarly canceled without reason.
This pattern of silence raises serious concerns that the public is being deliberately kept in the
dark, potentially to prevent community members from attending and voicing their concerns.
Such actions undermine public trust and suggest a troubling disregard for accountability.
Furthermore, the acting director faces significant challenges ahead. Our parks have become
neglected and underutilized, leaving many in the community feeling disheartened and
disconnected from these vital public spaces.
I demand immediate action to restore transparency and open communication. The public
deserves timely notifications about meetings and clear explanations for any cancellations.
Additionally, I urge the City Council, Mayor, and City Manager to hold the acting director
accountable for improving leadership and actively engaging the community to revitalize our
parks and cultural resources.
We, the residents, deserve better stewardship of our city’s assets and a government that values
our participation.
Sincerely,
G. Lujan
