Dear Mayor and Council Members,
I am writing in support of Commissioner Victor Suarez and his continued service on the Art &
Historical Preservation Commission. It is concerning that a special meeting has been scheduled to
examine personal matters unrelated to their duties as a commissioner. This use of public
resources does not reflect transparent or responsible governance. This move only demonstrates
the continued abuse of power and corruption that have become so well associated with the city.
The city faces more pressing issues that need urgent attention, yet the council,
specifically Councilwoman, would rather play a game of divorce court because she lacks
integrity and leadership. When was the last time she called a special meeting to discuss the real
issues residents face each day?
Furthermore, it appears Commissioner Suarez is facing retaliation for exercising his First
Amendment rights after raising concerns about inappropriate and hostile conduct by a city staff
member—conduct that has not been meaningfully addressed. Redirecting the focus toward
removing a dedicated volunteer rather than resolving the misconduct only undermines public
trust.
Commissioner Suarez has demonstrated commitment, integrity, and a genuine desire to serve
this community since the day he took his oath as commissioner. I urge the Council to recognise
their valuable contributions and allow him to continue his work on the Commission.
