Thank you to the hundreds of
volunteers who will be fanning
across the City early tomorrow
morning as part of the 2026
Homeless Point in Time Count.
The federally mandated PITC
identifies the number of
unhoused individuals across the
nation.
The results of the count are used
in determining funding for
programs and services.
The 2025 stats are in for the Animal Services
Department. Here are some key statistics…
The Department took in 10,773 animals this past
year. Between adoptions, rescues and reuniting
with owners, the “save rate” for adult dogs was
83% and was 81% for juvenile dogs.
Using our mobile veterinary clinic we received
from Yamavaa’, the Department was able to
perform 2,066 spay and neuter procedures – 1,433
dogs and 633 cats.
93 shelter volunteers logged a total of 6,984 hours
of service.
The project to install additional kennels at the
shelter is expected to be completed in late
February/early March.
Congress Approves Budget Bill with Funds for SBPD
Last week the House and Senate approved an appropriation bill that
includes $1,031,000 for the San Bernardino Police Department to fund
its Mobile Crime Prevention Program. The President is expected to sign
the bill this week.
The funds were one of two Community Project Funding appropriations
submitted last year by Congressman Aguilar on behalf of the City.
Improvements Coming to Route 66 in SB
Caltrans has announced that a portion of Route 66 (5th Street/
Foothill Blvd.) from Pepper Avenue to the 215 Freeway will be part
of an improvement project starting in April.
