To the San Bernardino City Council,
Public participation and voter representation are foundational to democracy throughout California. Introducing a
proposal of this magnitude in San Bernardino will have consequences that extend well beyond city limits, affecting
neighboring communities across the region.
It is concerning how little notice was given for such an impactful City Council meeting, and how quickly this matter
appears to have been scheduled. This approach gives the impression that the process was rushed, potentially limiting
public awareness, voter turnout, and meaningful community input.
I strongly urge the City Council to pause further action on this proposal and either place the matter on the November
ballot—where it can be decided by voters—or discontinue it altogether. Decisions of this significance deserve
transparency, adequate notice, and full public engagement.
