To whom it may concern:
As the country moves further away from due process and democracy, this attempt by
the city council to abate the rights of the people of San Bernardino is discouraging and
infuriating. As a resident of this city and a citizen of this country, our officials should be
working night and day to restore the public’s trust in government not devising new ways,
such as this, to instill more distrust. It is not the city council’s decision who is the mayor
of our city. That decision for the sake of democracy, transparency and trust belongs only
to the people. Have you lost the people of this city so far that you would rather appoint a
mayor yourself? Have you decided that the voice of the community you serve is no
longer valid? I would highly encourage you to reconsider this proposal and allow fair
elections for this coming and all future elections.
