Good day, I am a registered voter and resident within an unincorporated part of the city of San Bernardino. I am writing to comment on the subject: PUBLIC HEARING paragraph 3 within the Minutes for 02/18/26 Closed Session. I support the eradication of and banning of short-term vacation rentals. Namely AIRBNB and similar companies. Although, with the 2028 Olympics around the corner I recommend tabling the implementation to after the conclusion of those festivities. I am writing to comment on subject: PRESENTATION #14 and #16. I disapprove of #14’s recommendation to increase the purchase order amount to Long Beach BMW for motorcycle(s). The police services of San Bernardino are well equipped and the need for brand new motorcycle(s) is not fiscally responsible. The moneys should be spent constructing permanent housing for qualified homeless person(s) on city owned or leased land. I support long term service contracts akin to the one for West Coast Lights and Sirens. However, why would such an agreement cost $2.5 million. That comes out to $48,000 dollars month, considering that they only work on business days (20/month). It would be prudent to consider why this contract with the city cost nearly $2,500 dollars per business day for their services. Are they on call? Are they providing staffing, worksite, tools, and equipment for meeting the obligations of this contract? Recall, that #16 paragraph 4 of the Minutes for 02/18/26 Closed Session of City Council is recommending a purchase order of $750,000 to the same company. Only 52 months of service are listed, and the grand total reaches $3.25 million for WCLS. I implore you to reconsider or renegotiate or terminate the recommendation of Subject: Presentation > Items #14 and #16. Thank you for reading and placing my comments within the minutes on record.
