Dear Mayor and Councilmembers,
My name is Lupita Martinez, and I am writing on behalf of Coalition for Humane
Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) in strong support of the adoption of the Citywide
Constitutional Rights Resolution (All Wards) – Item 17, introduced by Councilmember
Ibarra. This resolution, which includes posting signage at city facilities, schools, andlocal businesses affirming that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) isnot permitted on site without proper authorization, is an important step to protectand educate our community about their constitutional rights.
Clear public education strengthens trust, ensures transparency, and reinforces theCity’s commitment to the safety and rights of all residents. I respectfully urge the
Council to vote yes on this item.
