Dear Council,
I'm writing in today to urgently request for the renewak of Akoma Unity Centers lease with
the City of San Bernardino. I've had the honor of working and learning alongside Akoma
scholars, families, and staff. Akoma has always been and continues to be a place where youth
are culturally affirmed and given the opportunity to engage in projects that develop their
social, academic, and career readiness skills. Akoma Unity has cultivated the land, building a
beautiful community garden that provides nutritous meals for families and gives the
opportunity for intergenerational learning between scholars and elders. This is a one of a kind
center that deeply invests in the care and development of San Bernardino youth. I urgently
request that Akoma's lease is renwed.
