Hello Mayor Helen Tran, San Bernardino tax paying, law abiding citizen reaching out to you with a concern. My 18yr old Indian Springs High School Honor Roll Child (who is legally considered an Adult) was stopped by an officer of the SBPD on June 1st at a stop sign on the corner of 5th and Sunnyside ave (at the corner of my residence) for riding his E- Bike. My child was then handcuffed put in the nack of the squad car while the officer ran his ID. His bike was Impounded by A&G Towing which the officer called to the scene. When my child got home and told me what had happend i ran to the corner asked officer if I could speak to him about the inccident he replied "I dont have to speak to you about anything hes an Adult" ... after exchanging words with officer over why IF officer (he admitted) was not feeling threatened, disrespected or afraid of my child why he handcuffed him he just said its routine. This morning I had to pay a $350 police release and a $388 impound fee which came out of my pocket because my unemployed "ADULT" child which is still in HS will graduate THURS June 4th with Honors, No priors with law enforcement could NOT AFFORD. Now please tell me Mayor how this is a fare FEE for your members of the community/city to have to pay? Everyone involved was RUDE and showed NO compassion. I believe this is so unfair when there are REAL CRIMINALS all over our city getting treated with more respect than Us. PLEASE HELP, Make it Make Sense!!
